For example, in Field's Virology, polio is renamed to "aseptic meningitis." btw this is how they can say they got rid of a disease. all they do is rename it like they did with polio

I see your confusion and your point that that is very weird, but to continue with this aseptic meningitis isn't a virus but rather a condition that yes can be caused by polio but not exclusively linked to virus infection though it usually is. They probably aren't naming it to a pathogen because the number of outbreaks are so low that they can get away with it and they don't want to put fear in the mind of the public. Aseptic meningitis is characterized by inflammation of the brain and spinal cord membranes, not a definite infection. So all though some may be caused by viruses, alot could be caused by brain damage or problems. These are measured in cases not people infected too so a reoccuring meningitis would drag the number of cases up. Also, when someone gets this from a virus it would obviously be contagious, other symptoms would show, and the CDC would take samples to see if it was polio to prevent it from spreading. If polio really did exist today in the us too there's no way we wouldn't hear from people leaking information to the press and getting a public panic. It's only natural to assume we would leak this to the press because human beings are kind of terrible in that way. Either that or the press would search it out. Youre not wrong when you say these kinds of cases have gone up recently compared to before but they are really diseases similar to polio that definetly are terrifying in themselves and might as well be considered atleast a close relative to polio, but the actual polio virus is not still around. Mainly because we don't have the vaccines for the polio like viruses in the general population and that the polio virus did have a vaccine that helped prevent new cases. I'm actually kind of impressed that the CDC has been able to control the spread of those viruses pretty well though considering no vaccine for them exists in th population.

The idea of the vaccines I shared works regardless of if CDC has ever even used a vaccine. The point is most people don't have the vaccine for the polio like diseases because they are rare in the world. You clearly don't know what you're talking about because the vaccines were a side point in that paragraph. The main population doesn't have the vaccine for a rare few diseases that spread and which the CDC doesn't reccomend for people to get after their article-seems reasonable. And yes I trust the coincidence that polio being suddenly eradicated after a vaccine was constructed and given to the population would probably mean the vaccine had a major effect on the virus. If you had enough specific data you could do a chi square analysis test to see if the data is significantly different from what it should be. It could come out either way but I would assume that the drop rate down to it being erradicated would probably be due to a variable which depending on how we set the equations up we could isolate that variable to be the introduction of the vaccines.

ok, something to work off of; maybe the vaccine didn't have major effects and the disease was already under control. It could have still have been effective but we will won't know how effective if effective at it was. But we can reasonably say the vaccine did not have polio in it.

@Wretch and hold up i just want to state that vaccine company are most of the time independent and not ran by the government. Yeah they follow the guidelines set by the government, but besides that they are ran at there own leisure. And vaccine company don't look out for political reasons such as filling politicians pockets with money. In fact i severely doubt they have the money to do so. Vaccines are expensive to make but sold at very low prices. Most are even free. It costs about 31 dollars to make one flu shot, yet they are mostly just handed out for free. Some company even go bankrupt from making vaccines as they cant make a profit off.
