Someone HAS to teach it.
Except that in this instance, smollett claims bleach was poured on him. It was intentional to make the attack seem racially motivated...from the get-go.
Yeah
Maybe I'm missing something, but to me, bleach doesn't scream racial motivation
It's to "whiten" him up.
Ohhh
And he said that he "kept the noose around his neck when the police came". A total movie player.
I always thought about it from a pain perspective
Noose, Bleach...screams mainstream reacism.
racism*
When you check the video, go to the part where he shows the tweets.
Will do
Can I offer a slight bit of proof as to why underlying racial tension exists?
Do you know what the most racist country in the world is?
(Hint: it isn't the US)
It's India
In India, there exist communities of people who have never seen a person who isn't brown.
When a white person goes to those communities, do you know how they react? The children hide behind their parents, and the parents move towards their living spaces.
Whereas when I visited those communities, there was no such reaction
Thatโs not racial tension. Thatโs a natural feat of something unknown
It's a basal sense of "us vs. them," a herd mentality, if you will
A fear of something that looks exactly as you do, minus skin color?
That's exactly what racial tension is
Because there's no other differentiating factor between the two
That's what I've been trying to say, but sadly, my English skills were being used up by this paper I'm working on
Thatโs natural. But not really racial tension.
If we were being honest, that's what racial tension actually is. And that's exactly what the media has managed to spin up into such a big thing.
It took a base instinct, a natural wariness, and turned it into a big thing
Racism definition
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
That's racism, not racial tension. While similar, the two aren't the same
One is active, one is passive
Is it still your premise that people are motivated because they think they can get away with it? Or is it that they are guilty of feeding fake propaganda themselves?
Both.
People think they can get away with stuff because of society's views on things. Society's views are informed by the media.
(I thought that the second part was implied, but apparently not)
cheese
Can you define "Racial Tension" how you understand it, gohan?
@gohan Donโt you get it? Itโs these false attacks that are feeding this racial tension you speak of. Are you ok with this?
Feelings of wariness or fear caused by the sole fact that one's race is different from another's, caused by an underlying, basal fear of the unknown.
Also, it doesn't matter if I'm okay with it or not. It'll continue.
@Larken When you have time please select some interest roles as well. Thank you.

Ok
@Larken Congratulations on getting professor role. ๐
Thanks Gwench
I'll post the sources here in a sec

It's annoying as all hell

Thank you
I hate people like that
When you say "fear caused by the fact that one's race is different from another, caused by the underlying fear of the unknown".
I know there's such thing of the fear of the unknown. For example, when some tribes receive guests of all colors, they get perplexed and scared, because of the "unknown" that you speak of. That is normal. When something is very strange to us, we usually respond with fear, because we cannot categorize them in any of our developed faculties (This is developed by Mircea Eliade, when he talks about the Scared and the Profane in his books).
But here's the thing, the "fear" that you speak of coming from the underlying fear of unknown, is not the same "fear" that would be put in the conception of "racial tension". Those are two DIFFERENT things: one comes because of nature and because of lack of contact with other civilizations; the other comes because of the INDOCTRINATION, caused by external factors that are not consequent with the type of fear you describe.
I believe the main problem we're having is that we're defining racial tension in two different ways.
Maybe if we stopped using that label, it would help
I think it was necessary from the get go to define our terms. Sometimes people might agree on the same thing, but they disagree because their definitions are not put.
In summary, what I am trying to say is that, yes, we as humans NATURALLY fear the unknown.
And that natural fear, when applied to humans, is what I define as racial tension.
But there's no such thing as inherent fear for a race when you take into account the fact that the environment where this human is born is already constructed for a long time.
Alright, I think I get it
We're in agreement, but not understanding that we're in agreement
The best example I can give you right now is that of Tarzan (I know it's cartoonish, but it gives a great image).
Tarzan was human, but he was raised by monkeys. When humans of the SAME color as him came, he was "afraid" and curious.
It happens to some tribes: you can come on the same color of your skin. But what they're afraid of is the fact that YOU do not belong to that tribe.
Not necessarily the skin color.
I understand. We've been saying the same thing, I've just been saying it in an unfocused, hazy way
@The Gwench I just remembered that you wanted to hear my evidence as to why I'm a globie
You still want to hear it?
I will
I had more astrology stuff to talk about too.
With relation towards flat vs globe, not just random discussion of astrology.
@gohan Sure
Alright. So as I have been told often, you don't look to the sky to prove something about the ground. So I did some digging, and I came up with some solid proof.
Seismic waves.
Specifically, two properties of seismic waves. The first is the difference between surface waves (which travel along the surface of the Earth) and body waves (which travel within the Earth)
So what about them?
The second property is seismic shadow zones
I'll start with shadow zones.
Ok
The other one is a long-winded mathematical proof that I don't want to type out on a phone.
While I like math, I donโt like it that much.
Thank you
I'll see if I can bring it down, it's long in terms of length, not so much difficulty to understand
Anyways
Seismic shadow zones
Before I start, I want to make sure of one thing.
@The Gwench can we agree that seismic measurements are not faked?
No
I canโt say either way tbh
Then it's pointless to discuss
I mean, people's *lives* depend on accurate seismic measurements
Anyways, seismic waves from earthquakes can be felt at almost all parts of the Earth, at varying degrees of intensity based on distance from the epicenter
There are, however, areas at which seismic waves are not measurable. These are called "shadow zones"
