The Durham County Sheriff's Office arrested a fourth person in connection with activists who toppled a Confederate statue during a demonstration Monday night.

The Durham County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dante Emmanuel Strobino, 35, and Ngoc Loan Tran, 24. Wednesday morning when they were attending a court hearing for Takiyah Fatima Thompson, 22, who was arrested on the same charges Tuesday afternoon.

Their charges include:

▪ Disorderly conduct by injury to a statue (Class II misdemeanor).

▪ Damage to real property (statue as a fixture (Class I misdemeanor).

▪ 14-288.2(c) Participation in a riot with property damage in excess of $1,500 (Class H felony).

Takiyah Thompson, who climbed a ladder to help bring down the Confederate statue, was arrested after holding a press conference on the campus of N.C. Central University, where she is a student.

An American military veteran and teacher spotted the sculpture in an Eastern European scrap yard 1989, and mortgaged his house to bring the sculpture to Issaquah. The teacher recognized the statue as a piece of art, regardless of its subject.

The statue is now owned by the teacher’s family, and it sits at the “temporary viewing” site in Fremont while it’s for sale for $250,000.

According to Fremont.com, the presence of the sculpture is supposed to illicit a wide range of responses as a piece of art.

CNN has been accused of staging a dramatic piece of footage where reporter Drew Griffin rescues a Texas man who drove his truck into a canal.

Griffin said his crew were setting up a live shot when they “heard a sound”.
The video then cuts to the moment when the vehicle becomes marooned in the water. After about 20 seconds, Griffin is seen running towards the vehicle. He is wearing khaki shorts and trainers.

However, in the next clip, where Griffin is seen pulling the man out of the water, he is now wearing dark pants and boots.
“It happens within seconds,” said Griffin, although people pointed out that it would have taken Griffin more than a few seconds to change his clothing.

“It wasn’t much of a desperate emergency if CNN’s Drew Griffin had time to change from a pair of shorts and sandals into a pair of long pants and boots?” remarks the Conservative Treehouse blog.

“CNN faked rescue video where their anchor “saved a man in a truck,” claimed one tweetthat got over 5,000 retweets.

The comments on the video are littered with people asserting the entire thing was staged.

Others claimed that the man wearing the shorts was a different person.

To be fair to Drew Griffin, although he works for CNN, he can’t be put in the same category as most of their partisan commentators. Griffin has done solid journalism before, particularly when he stood up to the TSA after they put him on a terror watch list.

Perhaps the story is more about how Trump supporters are so irate at the network that they will immediately assume the worst case scenario.

Hundreds of non-citizens were registered to vote in Philadelphia over the last decade, and at least 90 of them actually ended up casting ballots that should never have been allowed, City Commissioner Al Schmidt said Wednesday, adding more fuel to complaints of bogus voting in U.S. elections.

The voters are all self-admitted non-citizens who went back and canceled their registrations later — but not before casting illegal ballots a total of 227 times in elections spanning 2006 to 2007, Mr. Schmidt said.

He said most of those non-citizens signed up to vote at PennDOT, the state motor vehicles bureau, when they went to get a driver’s license. While legal residents and long-term visitors are allowed to hold licenses, they are not allowed to vote in federal elections — yet thanks to a federal law, the sign-up for both licenses and voter registration is often tied together.

Paul Manafort, the embattled former Trump campaign chairman, offered to provide a briefing about the 2016 presidential campaign to a Russian oligarch with close ties to Vladimir Putin, according to newly unveiled emails.

The Washington Post reports that Manafort emailed a Ukrainian business associate on July 7, 2016 asking him to forward a message to Oleg Deripaska, an aluminum magnate who Manafort has consulted for in the past.

“If he needs private briefings we can accommodate,” Manafort wrote to his associate, Konstantin Kilimnik. The Manafort emails are part of a trove of tens of thousands of documents under review by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is conducting a sprawling investigation into Russian meddling in the presidential campaign.
