2018-09-15 15:02:25 UTC

I can see why it happens, and i know a place in eu madd heroin legal and gave out free shots for then

2018-09-15 15:02:36 UTC

if you have never met or talked to a herion addict, you are proba bly lucky, but its hard to quantify

2018-09-15 15:02:39 UTC

So it depends

2018-09-15 15:02:46 UTC

Netherlands? Don't have legal everything?

2018-09-15 15:02:56 UTC

I think so

2018-09-15 15:03:07 UTC

They have those shoot up clinics

2018-09-15 15:03:15 UTC

so my mom used to work for a methadone clinic to help ween people off of herion

2018-09-15 15:03:39 UTC

the mind of an addict is a tricky thing

2018-09-15 15:03:39 UTC

Well one thing o dont understand, why narcan is a controlled substance

2018-09-15 15:03:52 UTC

When it doesnt give a high and is beneficial

2018-09-15 15:04:11 UTC

because it tricks the addicted mind into thinking it got what it wanted

2018-09-15 15:04:20 UTC

to help bring them off of it

2018-09-15 15:04:28 UTC

But why is it a controlled

2018-09-15 15:04:41 UTC

I think it is a c2

2018-09-15 15:04:54 UTC

because its still dangerous and you dont want people NOT addicted to get their mind needing it

2018-09-15 15:05:26 UTC

i am a cig smoker, and ill be the first to admit im hardcore addicted to these damed things

2018-09-15 15:05:34 UTC

Kinda bs still

2018-09-15 15:05:38 UTC

tell me you are going to take them away

2018-09-15 15:05:42 UTC

and my brain goes insane

2018-09-15 15:05:50 UTC

its just how addiction works

2018-09-15 15:05:51 UTC

A normal guy wont shoot up with no high

2018-09-15 15:06:11 UTC

until his brain chemistry associates and changes for that drug

2018-09-15 15:06:18 UTC

But is used to bind with the opiods so the guy wont stop breathing

2018-09-15 15:06:19 UTC

then he will

2018-09-15 15:06:41 UTC

slippery slope

2018-09-15 15:06:53 UTC

Narcan is used to stop the overdose, not to help with withdrawal

2018-09-15 15:07:19 UTC

Methadone is to help with withdrawal

2018-09-15 15:07:29 UTC

maybe i am going in the wrong direction, all i am aying is addiction is difficult for those that have never tried anything to really understand

2018-09-15 15:07:50 UTC

i dont know one drug from the next when it comes to perscription and whatnot

2018-09-15 15:07:54 UTC

Im addicted to gambling

2018-09-15 15:08:04 UTC

but i know a lot of people hooked on herion and used to be crack

2018-09-15 15:08:06 UTC

So i know the issue in general

2018-09-15 15:08:16 UTC

those are different people than you have ever met, i would bet

2018-09-15 15:08:17 UTC

And i know war on drugs made everything worse

2018-09-15 15:08:41 UTC

At least where i am at...

2018-09-15 15:09:21 UTC

i dont know a lot about the exacts on the war on drugs, but i can claim to know a bit about the effects on those taking some of the worst drugs we have ever invented as a people

2018-09-15 15:09:39 UTC

lost many friends to coke and herion

2018-09-15 15:09:46 UTC

have to just cut them out after a while

2018-09-15 15:09:50 UTC

try to help

2018-09-15 15:09:54 UTC

but can only do so much

2018-09-15 15:10:03 UTC

War on drugs made people into criminals, that is what it did

2018-09-15 15:10:22 UTC

while the laws put people in jail

2018-09-15 15:10:38 UTC

i never put that first line in front of anyone to snort, shoot whatever

2018-09-15 15:10:46 UTC

there is still a bit of choice in there

2018-09-15 15:11:14 UTC

after a while the addiction takes over and choice leaves their hands to a degree

2018-09-15 15:11:28 UTC

but it started with a yes or no question at some point

2018-09-15 15:11:53 UTC

But we closed the psych wards so it tossed a bunch of people out on the streets

2018-09-15 15:12:01 UTC

did we?

2018-09-15 15:12:12 UTC

are there not psychewards anymore?

2018-09-15 15:12:18 UTC

In general us closed a lot of them

2018-09-15 15:12:38 UTC

well there were a lot of bad ones at one point

2018-09-15 15:12:56 UTC

maybe thats what got closed, but i dont know, i would like to think that had to be what happened

2018-09-15 15:13:01 UTC

but i cant really make that claim

2018-09-15 15:13:25 UTC

Summary of it

2018-09-15 15:13:38 UTC

Can research more from this if you want to

2018-09-15 15:14:33 UTC

Ghee, that is one of the talking points of the NRA, NPR

2018-09-15 15:14:50 UTC

well in this case, they are probably right

2018-09-15 15:15:27 UTC

i can get behind what is being said here, we do have a mental health issue

2018-09-15 15:15:44 UTC

hell, i could likely be considered living proof of said fact lol

2018-09-15 15:16:08 UTC

not really something i would be proud of or anything... just saying

2018-09-15 15:16:34 UTC

I would say that a simple "one size fits all" solution to problems, ends up fitting no one.

2018-09-15 15:16:46 UTC
2018-09-15 15:16:58 UTC

need a bunch of options, so everyone can find something they can work with

2018-09-15 15:17:37 UTC

not sure anyone really knows how to make something like that really come about

2018-09-15 15:17:53 UTC

which i guess puts us where we are in that respect lol

2018-09-15 15:18:09 UTC

Well it is a question of is it government responsibility to care for them at expense of budget, because it leads to waste and fraud

2018-09-15 15:18:31 UTC

Anytime a government program is established, there is going to be fraud and waste

2018-09-15 15:18:46 UTC

well in some cases i could see it as a yes, and some cases a no, which is why options are needed

2018-09-15 15:18:49 UTC

Now how much is so, is the question

2018-09-15 15:18:51 UTC

But there is no question that since the 1950's, the trend to use General Prisons as mental health facilities has been a disaster

2018-09-15 15:19:05 UTC

like guys with PTSD from military action, i would surely say the government needs to help those guys out

2018-09-15 15:19:16 UTC

but should the governemnt be responsible for my crazy ass, nah

2018-09-15 15:19:23 UTC

And to add those from war on drugs fucked it moreso

2018-09-15 15:19:24 UTC

its not their fault im a dumbass

2018-09-15 15:19:26 UTC

lol

2018-09-15 15:19:51 UTC

but you bring up an interesting point @Zuihou

2018-09-15 15:20:11 UTC

But how do you treat those with mental illness, even moreso when they need constant care

2018-09-15 15:20:23 UTC

i could get behind saying that people swept up in the "war on drugs" needed a helping hand from the governemt that created that problem

2018-09-15 15:21:00 UTC

And will it not lead to government regulating people to "help" them

2018-09-15 15:21:06 UTC

i think we really lost something as a society when we stopped trying to reform guys in prison like it seemed like we used to

2018-09-15 15:21:12 UTC

Slippery slope for sure

2018-09-15 15:21:19 UTC

maybe i was just dumb and it didnt happen like i thought it did

2018-09-15 15:21:22 UTC

But at the same time

2018-09-15 15:21:29 UTC

but at least it felt like the goal back in the day

2018-09-15 15:21:39 UTC

its not even an option anymore it feels like

2018-09-15 15:21:42 UTC

The government is trying to rehabilitate them but picking the wrong ones to do so

2018-09-15 15:21:56 UTC

or picking the wrong things to rehabilitate them into

2018-09-15 15:21:58 UTC

or

2018-09-15 15:22:02 UTC

as a society

2018-09-15 15:22:09 UTC

Like a guy who had a string of violent crime, released because his latest crime was non violent

2018-09-15 15:22:14 UTC

we have stopped having the places we used to rehabilitate them into

2018-09-15 15:22:16 UTC

Then he went and murdered someone

2018-09-15 15:22:26 UTC

so no one really knows what to do at the moment

2018-09-15 15:22:37 UTC

and no one really wants to be the people that has to figure that out

2018-09-15 15:22:48 UTC

soo many eggshells

2018-09-15 15:22:54 UTC

no one wants to be the guy stepping on them

2018-09-15 15:23:26 UTC

i didnt hear about that guy @Zuihou where was that?

2018-09-15 15:23:46 UTC

or maybe i just didnt hear the backstory of an event yet

2018-09-15 15:23:58 UTC

Well for starters, national preventative health care is fine, in the scope is to provide general physical exam and annual blood test as well as a common list of generic drug supported by the government and approved by the panel of doctors, fhat is how a single payer would work better
