Judo and BJJ fighters try to keep their bulk down, as do a lot of other fighters.
Some of the best fighters I trained with were in the 150-170 range.
Well you can be very strong at those weights
Having the strength and an intimidating presence is absolutely beneficial in a street fight. Even a smaller guy who has obvious muscle tone and lifts will have a large psychological advantage
Im not discrediting strength training, by any means.
Im just hoping that our goys are lifting weights AND doing some form a martial art training.
If they had to choose between the two, I'd tell them join a MMA gym before joining a regular gym.
How many dead hang pull ups can you do. Push-ups etc
hell yeah glad to see you guys jumping in FUK YEAH
exactly what Mosby said...MMA gym first, regular gym second
but be prepared
shit is going to cost.
i spend $90 for two days a week of boxing/jkd/muay thai but it is worth it
i feel confident/not cocky when I'm faced with aggression
technique over mucles all day
when I first stepped in an MMA gym...KMAA in Knoxville I was deadlifting 420 and benching 260
thought I was hot shit...got owned by a 5'4 female
never underestimate your enemy...the guy who looks skinny might have been doing BJJ for 10 years straight and will put you down
the bulked up dude might get dropped with a right cross, left hook, elbow
Or you end up grappling and get symbolically raped.
Always do both train the muscle and the skill.
In wrestling the strongest and most aggressive will always win.
yup...and here's a perfect example of what I'm talking about
this guy Dan Baker
might not look like much
but he's a BJJ Master and bodyguard for the leader of Tallahasee antifa
He's nothing compared to our best.
@Der Jäger good to know. I'll make sure our guys are informed for the rally this weekend. anymore Tallahassee intel?
@GenZ_88 Just don't let him get you on the ground...then you're fuked. Personally unless its strickly one on one with rules and sheet, I prefer to stand up any day
grounding and grappling in a crowd of who knows who is dangerous af
LOL! You trained at KMAA??????
That's where I trained.
When were u training there?
Just got back from the gym
