Messsage from Der Jäger in tradworker #health_and_training

John Mosby 2018-01-25 18:58:21

Judo and BJJ fighters try to keep their bulk down, as do a lot of other fighters.

Some of the best fighters I trained with were in the 150-170 range.

GenZ_88 2018-01-25 18:58:42

Well you can be very strong at those weights

fassel 2018-01-25 18:59:16

Having the strength and an intimidating presence is absolutely beneficial in a street fight. Even a smaller guy who has obvious muscle tone and lifts will have a large psychological advantage

GenZ_88 2018-01-25 18:59:28

John Mosby 2018-01-25 18:59:49

Im not discrediting strength training, by any means.

Im just hoping that our goys are lifting weights AND doing some form a martial art training.

GenZ_88 2018-01-25 19:00:13

That's reasonable

John Mosby 2018-01-25 19:00:46

If they had to choose between the two, I'd tell them join a MMA gym before joining a regular gym.

GenZ_88 2018-01-25 19:02:00

How many dead hang pull ups can you do. Push-ups etc

Beastcoast 2018-01-25 19:04:37

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:15:10

hell yeah glad to see you guys jumping in FUK YEAH

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:15:39

exactly what Mosby said...MMA gym first, regular gym second

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:15:43

but be prepared

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:15:47

shit is going to cost.

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:16:09

i spend $90 for two days a week of boxing/jkd/muay thai but it is worth it

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:16:27

i feel confident/not cocky when I'm faced with aggression

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:16:58

technique over mucles all day

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:17:19

when I first stepped in an MMA gym...KMAA in Knoxville I was deadlifting 420 and benching 260

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:17:26

thought I was hot owned by a 5'4 female

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:18:07

never underestimate your enemy...the guy who looks skinny might have been doing BJJ for 10 years straight and will put you down

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:18:25

the bulked up dude might get dropped with a right cross, left hook, elbow

GenZ_88 2018-01-25 19:18:59

Or you end up grappling and get symbolically raped.

GenZ_88 2018-01-25 19:19:26

Always do both train the muscle and the skill.

GenZ_88 2018-01-25 19:20:13

In wrestling the strongest and most aggressive will always win.

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:22:23

yup...and here's a perfect example of what I'm talking about

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:22:26

this guy Dan Baker

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:22:30

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:22:35

might not look like much

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:22:52

but he's a BJJ Master and bodyguard for the leader of Tallahasee antifa

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 19:23:16

GenZ_88 2018-01-25 19:31:41

He's nothing compared to our best.

JCAdams 2018-01-25 19:45:59

@Der Jäger good to know. I'll make sure our guys are informed for the rally this weekend. anymore Tallahassee intel?

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 20:04:40

@JCAdams check your PM

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 20:05:43

@GenZ_88 Just don't let him get you on the ground...then you're fuked. Personally unless its strickly one on one with rules and sheet, I prefer to stand up any day

Der Jäger 2018-01-25 20:06:03

grounding and grappling in a crowd of who knows who is dangerous af

John Mosby 2018-01-25 23:35:24

@Der Jäger

LOL! You trained at KMAA??????

That's where I trained.

When were u training there?

CatoHostilius 2018-01-25 23:38:42

Just got back from the gym

John Mosby 2018-01-25 23:38:46

Im skinny AF, and they always put the new shredded guys who joined our gym against me, to shut their egos down. I'm 6' and flux between 150 and 160...been in more street fights than I can count, always against bigger guys, and I've only lost a couple fights (not bragging, just stating facts...muscles dont account for shit against someone who in trained in fighting).
