The especially like to try suing former members who speak out against the church
The Church's income was one of the reasons Marx shamed it so much
Well the church I'm referring to wasn't around when Marx was
I'm still referring to the church of scientology
But yeah
Marx had a point
Ohhh
I thought you were referring to the Christian church
The whole income thing is partly why the protestant reformation occurred
Nah, the Christians don't sue when you speak ill of Christianity
Yeah but their income comes from charity, doesn't it?
Which income
Scientology or Christianity
Christianity
I have no idea how scientology makes money
In Marx's time, the churches expected adherents to donate 10% of their income
I think
10%
Don't quote me on that
Basically they say the Bible says you should give a certian amount to the church
It's called a tithe
I don't know
I don't know enough
I know the Mormon church says 10%, but only voluntarily
And the Mormon church does actually use a lot of that money for charity
10% they're heading towards socialism
Well it can be argued that Christianity promotes socialism
Give according to your means so the church can give charity
I can't comment cause I don't know enough
There's a story
It is only 2.5% for us, according to Muhammad
But I don't believe in a lot of his quotes cause they weren't recorded till 300 years after his death
One of the disciples was with Jesus
And they saw a rich man donate a decent sum of money to the temple
And saw a poor peasant woman donate a tiny amount
(I forget how it goes exactly , but I'm doing my best)
The disciple says that tje man who donated more is clearly the more moral
And Jesus said that the peasant woman was the more moral
The rich man donated an inconsequential amount of his wealth
He would not miss the money he gave
The peasant, who donated far less, had just given up a large portion of her wealth
So even though the peasant woman gave a smaller sum, it was worth more for her soul
