did not this man give tribute to Peter and the Church
it is in acts
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ"
-Romans 5:1
Ananias and Sapphira
5 Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2 With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet.
3 Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4 Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”
5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6 Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.
7 About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?”
The early church shared all things in common. They were killed for lying about the price of their house, has nothing to do with Apostolic authority and Peter has nothing to do with your church: He'd hate it.
giving over worldly goods as pennance then has a precedent
"Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith"
-Galatians 3:24
Was Peter wrong to take the money from annais
Giving away your goods is a good thing, but it has nothing to do with salvation.
so If I gave my property to the church is that wrong
as a way tp show my sincerity of repentance
Of course not
but
The Catholic Church is still no church as it preaches a false Gospel.
It preaches the Gospel
which Gospel do you have a problem with
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."
-Galatians 1:8
there is no extra Gospel
If you believe salvation can be earned by works, you believe a false Gospel. I've shown you several verses that without a doubt teach salvation is through faith alone.
no salvation comes with faith
You've shown me one that you simply didn't understand.
but good works are the fruit of faith
We agree then.
Salvation is through faith alone, but saving faith is never alone.
Good works reinforces faith and faith builds upon good works
You called Luther a heretic, but you have the same view as him on justification.
Luther is a heretic because of sola scriptura
Sola scriptura is correct
however
where is sola scriptura in the Bible
I want quotes
it is a contradiction
in its own making
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness"
- 2 Timothy 3:16
^ I agree with timothy that is not scripture alone
Catholic church does not contradict scripture
Matthew 18:18 "Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, regard him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. 18Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven
context
The selling of indulgences contradicts scripture, the repetitious prayers contradicts scripture, the murder contradicts scripture. Several things the Catholic church does and teaches contradicts scripture. It was literally the frequency of your violation of scripture that lead to us realizing the scriptures alone speak for God.
