Also i dont think you want to go down the path of "this person's actions delegitamizes the Church and doctrine" if you're gadolig lmao
no where on the wiki does it say he fucked her b4 marriage
Also, he didnt "break his vows" because they excommunicated him. All the stuff you are citing came after the fact
So yes, they should have listened to a priest, that hadnt broken his vows or done anything wrong at that point, that was telling them to stop going against whats clearly stated by Christ Himself, as well as the Catholic church
Ur just salty not because you know what happened and disagree with it, but because "grrr im SUPPOSED to be!"
Are you talking about indulgences?
No. That's not why he was excommunicated
The main issue was over communion
That he didn't believe in transubstantiation?
He did
The priest he got into a with feud didn't
Every Anglican I know here doesn't tho? So how did Protestants end up not believing?
So you're saying he was excommunicated for holding the church's position on transubstantiation?
Or at least what I understand the church's position to be
I apologise for being in error on the chronology of Luther's marriage btw, my mistake
Though I still wouldn't consider an oath taken before God for life to be rescinded by excommunication personally
Well Anglicanism is a completely different thing to Lutheranism
It's its own thing
And yeah, that's why he as excommunicated
Well Lutheranism began after Luther was kicked out of the Catholic Church. And I believe Anglicanism started when the King of England wanted to divorce his wife, but couldn't do to doctrine
So he just fractured off and made his own church
I totally agree Anglicanism is a farse
Through Anglicanism the rest of the protestant sects branched off, but Lutheranism has always just been its own thing
Like we have Latin mass, believe in transubstantiation, dont allow women in clergy, our pastors have to study The Bible as well as Catholic scholars in seminary school for 6 years
Lutherans get a bad rep when grouped in with prots tbh
Well I apologise for any misconceptions I may have had, I still find the theological positions of Luther (as I understand them) to be wrong, but any confusion I have probably arises from Anglicans in Ireland being referred to as "prods"
Well really any Christian non Catholic is described as Protestant here
It's an ethnic and cultural distinction as much as anything else
It's fine lol, no hard feelings. Honestly, i feel that a lot of resentment between sects just comes from misconceptions
Like i have no problem with Catholics, and whenever someone says something dumb about "worshipping Mary" or "praying to saints" I correct them
I do still have major issues with Sola Fides but I'll leave that for another time, thanks for letting me know that about Lutheran's, only ones I've ever met are Germans who were lapsed
No problem man
At the end of the day I just don't want any of ye going to hell
Except @a dim goon
Well i appreciate that lol
<:smug:402400327313391616>
Wait ye have Latin mass?
Still?
