Well my family isn't very culturally celebratory, most of what I know about my family I had to find out myself, but I celebrate the people around me who have gotten me to where I am today. Whether they be friends, family, or community. Meditation, socializing, relaxing, or doing a simple hobby can brighten your daily life by just that much.
Culture and heritage is important too, but it's not like your missing out on anything. If you want to experience the world through a cultural view- travel and find it.
I don't like the idea of valuing identity over individual worth.
They don't have to be, but having one over the other is not good.

People have nothing to do with Imperialism, Imperialism is about the acquisition of exotic resources and territory.
If already a lot of people have claim to a resource, it's not exotic nor does it have any value to it.
