Remember the video from a few days ago where Eugene police shot that guy with the "smash the patriarchy" shirt? First guess is that some of his antifa buddies are behind this:
https://www.kezi.com/content/news/Incendiary-devices-outside-Eugene-police-headquarters-deemed-safe-505032022.html
FYI, I made a discord server for peoples in Ohio to help organize meetups.
https://discord.gg/ujjGMgt
Also, that non-rectangular state flag and MS Paint don't get along very well.
Is your discord crashing when you open this channel, too?
I had that issue this morning, I don't know what was causing it. It's not happening now, but I suspect I can make it happen by scrolling up far enough.
I hadn't heard about Gab doing that. That sounds awful.
There's 2 links for meetups in the show description now. One is a form you can fill out to be added to the spreadsheet, the other is the spreadsheet itself.
bonus slide: California is "most diverse" and "worst standard of living"

Naturally, his website does not list his policies or positions.
I'm guessing he meant the use of military force without Congress declaring war
I'm yet to see what these "devastating effects" are supposed to be in all the states that have passed constitutional carry, according to the gun control groups. And I really wish my state would do it.
Reminds me of this incredibly dissonant headline: https://www.twitter.com/thedailybeast/status/1036931902593224704
I wonder how long that photo will manage to be representative of the state of the West. I think it was originally from Unite the Right back in 2017, so it's already managed to stay relevant for a few years.
That's the same thing, yeah.
Yeah, the whole weekend was just a clusterfuck. It seems to me that the death of Heather Heyer is talked about so much that it gets used as a sort of smoke screen for a lot of the left-wing agitators that were there that weekend. Trump was indeed correct that there were bad people on both sides, but people act like it's sacrilege to equate the two sides since only one got a murder charge/conviction.
I'm vaguely aware of it. There was some discussion about it in <#266401012967931905>
This one seems rather spontaneous as far as I can tell.
They just decided it was his turn
He did mention that in his response to the whole debacle, but I don't know if that somehow started the whole thing.
It sounds like it's been a bunch of small incidents over a long period of time.
What the hell does "gamergate supporter" mean?
I've never really thought of gamergate as something you were "for" or "against"
The idea of "trans children" is already considered abuse. And now they can be further exploited.
Purely looking at the words of the first three panels, they're not wrong. Seems like taking some insane ideas and wrapping them in language you can't argue against can be a fairly successful strategy.
Just use nothing but unfalsifiable claims
It's the victim narrative at work. Giving good feels to the "oppressed" is good, giving good feels to the "oppressors" is bad
Is being against vaccines really a left/right thing, though? Everyone I talk to seems to think it's always those "other guys" who oppose them
"assaultive speech"
Thanks, I hate it.
Part of me wants to see this happen, but only if they put on a version of their furry mask that looks sad.
We all know the left can't meme, so when they tried to claim gritty the right had to show them up
The AnCap dream
When they announced they were accepting girls, they've always said they'd be in segregated troops. Seems like everyone glossed over that part, so now we get to have round 2 of everyone being confused about it.
That's gonna be a weeks-long shitshow that makes the Kavanaugh confirmation look tame. I don't get that many vacation days from work
Though if he picks Amy Barrett it'll be interesting to see how the left decides to attack her
Their use of "incidents" makes me suspicious of the validity, since we've seen what petty things count as "hate incidents" in the UK
I have no idea what is going on in that exchange
Ohio is also Radon central, so make sure those basements are ventilated
Strange times we live in.
Tommy's retrospective on 2018 had the same kind of lockdown
Naturally, I shared it as much as possible when I saw that
I feel like I should be worried about this. Is this another intervention?
I have no idea what sort of content triggers that sort of thing. And I doubt YouTube will be forthcoming about it
Given Tommy's status as a controversial political figure, I wouldn't guess it's an accident.
Is anyone following this AIPAC / Ilhan Omar clusterfuck?
Because I guess suggesting that a literal pro-israel PAC is paying people to be pro-israel is somehow heresy? I can't make any sense of this
The clusterfuck I mentioned has more to do with Omar saying negative things about AIPAC and then getting lambasted for it. Or rather, claiming that Israel has too much influence on American politics via organisations like AIPAC
AIPAC didn't specifically do anything in this case outside of *existing*
In relation to extra hand-webbing: I'd say that when something impedes normal functions is the line you could draw. If they don't negatively impact your manual dexterity it's nothing to worry about. But if they do, it's something to be concerned of.
Though perhaps by this same logic, since homosexuality doesn't produce offspring and is therefore a dead end, it would be classified as a disorder of some sort.
Here's Styx's commentary on some of the things I mentioned in general chat last night

Convenient wording seems to be a recurring theme for a lot of news

I'm not sure of the original source, I've seen it going around on Twitter. I think it's a Facebook post
That was rather inevitable
I remember a local school reacting the same way to the "it's okay to be white" posters. They even knew it was a thing devised by 4chan to make racist people angry and their response was to get angry.
I saw an interesting Internet Discussion about how all lefty memes are based on power and recognition, and it's slowly starting to make sense to me. Every "outrage" is just an opportunity to demonstrate how virtuous they are and move up the ladder.
They specifically mentioned all the Turning Point meme accounts that sprung up on Twitter and how a lot of them can't help but break character once they gain a significant following.
I don't get a lot of the efforts to get people like Vic re-hired by the employer that threw them under the bus in the first place. Sure, I'd want to be working again, but hopefully for someone who has a spine
Where do you live where not checking for leopards is considered a foolish thing to do?
The rules of the internet are very strictly enforced
Here's the source of the screenshot @Dan V
https://www.searchquarry.com/namesearch/results?trackstat=homepage-&fname=ruth&lname=ginsburg&recordtype=Death&state=all
I don't actually see the listing in the link I posted, though.
You really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?
Quality sarcasm from Matt

I have so many questions
Yeah, I'm suddenly pro-gay having read that
Everyone be gayer
Crap, if I turn gay to own the muslims do I have to support these people too? These are tough decisions.
Finally, honest commies
Closest thing to a rainbow gun I know of
Yeah, assimilate into your own country, bigot
Kinda defeats the purpose of them trying to go incognito if someone just tells you their main account
I know this is a parody account, but I'm sure the screenshot is real.

Is David Pakman the guy who calls authoritarianism inherently right-wing? I had a brief moment where I thought he might be a left-wing pundit that I could listen to regularly, and then he tried to pretend that Stalin was right-wing
realising he tells half-truths might take time, but watching him try to disprove Sargon's assertion that he called Stalin right-wing by calling Stalin right-wing is a pretty obvious flag
As far as I can tell, this guy claims that the upper-left quadrant of the political compass does not exist. Hence, if you're an authoritarian, you're right wing.
He's basically trying to maintain some kind of ideological purity to his beloved communism
This is the future we chose
Is this one of those "boomer memes"? (The gun control one)
Just shove your opinions onto a picture and claim it's a meme
Do you think they see guns themselves as implements of malice? It's the only thing I can think of that logically fits most gun control narratives.
A less superstitious idea would be that an unarmed populace would simply be unable to cause harm, but I've yet to see any evidence of that.
Having watched that video, I don't think you can say that her programming failed. She just thought what Sargon said was so unbelievably stupid that she visibly recoiled at it. Maybe that's essentially the same thing, but I don't think it caused any logic errors on her end.
But they wouldn't be hurting *themselves*, right? We'd just be hurting them for their own good.
I've been watching a few videos on the idea of "racism = power + prejudice". It definitely seems like feminists are using the literal exact same logic, but replacing "whites" with "males" in the oppressor role.
And in the same way, they never seem to concede that a scenario could exist where whites/men do *not* have institutional power
I'd be bold enough to say that if you took a white male and made him a literal slave to a black woman, they would still claim that this somehow does not constitute an inversal of systemic power
The video I watched yesterday made the argument that we saw a drastic reduction in individual racism after the civil rights movement which created a large middle class population of blacks. But when inner-city blacks didn't climb the economic ladder, they had to come up with a new explanation for why racism was holding them back.
"motivated reasoning" in a nutshell
I'm almost afraid to ask where you saw it, @Nic Harvard
yeah, Sitch's video was the main one I had watched. It's quite a time investment, but I thought it was worth it
One of those rare, 2-stage hoaxes!
