I am actually planning (which will take years to accomplish) to make a web comic series
with my best friend
But I don't know how to animate
My only experience is with a stick figure animation program i used like 7 years ago lmao
Drawing cant be that hard
Especially if you have a pad
Even if you dont know how Id suggest you try. Its not something you are just good at.
Set up scenes with figures take a picture and draw that shit
My friend is going to learn to draw, I am going to be the person in charge of story and the big idea man
Basically the director
I am aiming for drama
not comedy
lol
Gay
House wives and faggots like drama
Drama needs to be really well done for straight men to enjoy
It isn't drama in a soap opera-y way
I just mean it in a non-comedic way
Something serious
If you are going for drama and dont have a good style already dont be surprised if you dont do well.
As I said, it will take years before we are at the point we can actually do it
There is a lot of things to do before we can begin
Learning to draw, for starters
but actually creating the full plot and planning out the entire story and possible stories
and before even that, worldbuilding
We're not going to start it until we are perfectly ready
Ehh that stuff is fairly easy
That stuff is fairly easy depending on how far you are willing to go
If you over think it youll fail
It depends on what you are going for
If you are creating your very own universe, you have to ensure that it acts like its own universe
Otherwise it's just an expy earth
And if you want to go for that, you can
but that isn't what i am striving for
Idk one piece does alright
Keep it simple
i think you conflate worldbuilding with what is seen in the story
The readers only get into it at the rate you let them
just because you create an entire universe doesn't mean you show it all
lol
but it adds to the authenticity of it
Leaving it open also allows you to change it later
That is true, but not anyone needs to leave their universe open for further changes
I want to establish things so everything remains as consistent as possible
And because I already have a good understanding of the universe I've created
What we are working on is a reconstruction of what we've already done, but something to buffer out all of the inconsistencies and things that do not make sense when we first began
My point is if you could be overthinking things that the readers might never see or even think about
I don't see a problem with that for worldbuilding
It could be surface-deep and have the facade of its own universe, and people can make that work and do as they wish with that
But I want to make it as detailed and deeply rooted as I can
that's simply how I do things
Worldbuilding won't even take that long lol
We've only a few more fundamental things to do, before we move onto the general history of the world
Idk still sounds like you should both learn to draw some so you can split the work
I can't draw well lol
It would help with how deep you want to go
No one draws for shit at the start
I've taken a few art classes here and there, and I was never a good drawer lol
If nothing else learn how to color and shade
๐ค
Its art but there is a ton of stable techniques behind it
idk, i have never been able to shade well
I'm not sure what you mean by color
if you mean coloring in things, or if you mean choosing colors that go together or what
Neither did I till I took an art class and commited to understanding it
By actually coloring the comic
That is something we have not decided yet, if it is going to be black and white, or if we are going to color things
Art is basically like learning to write the alphabet with different styls being fonts
Pick an artist with a lot of work out and recreate their stuff till you get it then branch to your own style
It takes time to learn. It just sounds to me like you dont want to take the time
I understand that -- I just don't see why I need to learn how to draw, when that is what he will do
Putting all your eggs in one basket
And drawing is the hard part
How well can you draw
Got 2nd place in colored pencils in highschool art fair
District type
Can you show any examples
Took me 2 months for that one piece
And how long did it take you to work up to be able to do that
I dont have the picture anymore it was a hermit crab
Looked great
It was lile my second class the teacher was just good
Made us pic a nature picture that looked amazing to us. We would work on making it look like the picture and she would instruct us how to make it closer or better throughout the class
Everyone needs time to learn but it goes much faster if you have direction.
rip lol
You dont just start drawing how you want to easy from the start
and that sounds like a useful class wtf why didn't my art teachers do that
That was my biggest weakness at the start
and i know lol
if i could, i wouldn't need to learn in the first place
My drawing level is best described as Adventure Time but no sense of scale or proportion
Just pick an artist. Replicate their work. Then most importantly critique where you went wrong and keep it in mind for the next piece
Replicate how, on a sheet of paper by just looking at it
Tracing it
or what?
You can trace first to get it down but the more you free hand the better
I mean just recreate their work from scratch
Like if you wanted to draw like naruto author start going through some random volume re drawing every panel and make corrections after each one
ik it was just a suggestion but no thanks to naruto lol
i will think about that, i don't have much to do for the summer
so i could at least try
