Plus look how cute they are

2017-05-31 13:54:58 UTC

Let's don't kill it daddy

2017-05-31 13:55:20 UTC

Trust me they lost their cuteness after messing with them for a few weeks

2017-05-31 13:55:21 UTC

not only does the meat taste better from the amish or local farms but you're giving your money to your own people who work hard for it

2017-05-31 13:55:32 UTC

not some zog company

My family raises its own beef

2017-05-31 13:56:10 UTC

I'm eating Jersey steer (dairy cow ) beef right now

2017-05-31 13:56:14 UTC

mine did too back in europe

2017-05-31 13:56:58 UTC

What's the easiest way to butcher an animal that large? I imagine it's not like a deer where you can just field dress its guts and slice up the meat with carving knives.

Don't cows have four stomachs? Does that make it more difficult?

2017-05-31 13:57:25 UTC

In Egyptian art, Egyptians are white and sub-saharans are black. That is beyond hilarious to me

2017-05-31 13:57:49 UTC

It probably is

2017-05-31 13:57:58 UTC

I just use the local slaughter house

2017-05-31 13:58:10 UTC

My cousin is opening up a place like that for deer

2017-05-31 13:58:12 UTC

How much do they charge? I know YMMV but curious

2017-05-31 13:58:19 UTC

we usially hang it on its feet up on a tree, cut the stomach open and cut it then skin it

2017-05-31 13:58:19 UTC

Idk

2017-05-31 13:58:26 UTC

I have to ask my grandad

2017-05-31 13:58:36 UTC

You use ropes to get it up in the tree?

2017-05-31 13:58:36 UTC

of course we shoot it in the head first

2017-05-31 13:58:45 UTC

I rather grow my food then hunt

2017-05-31 13:58:55 UTC

don't remember what we used last time

2017-05-31 13:59:40 UTC

What do you use to shoot it?

I've got 8mm and 9mm, figure 8 will absolutely wreck its brain but curious

2017-05-31 13:59:40 UTC

I don't have a picture of the steer we butchered

2017-05-31 13:59:54 UTC

pellet gun is what amish use

2017-05-31 13:59:58 UTC

Kek

2017-05-31 14:00:06 UTC

quick and small wound

2017-05-31 14:00:15 UTC

gets it done clean

2017-05-31 14:00:18 UTC

Pellets like .22 or .17 air rifles?

2017-05-31 14:00:25 UTC

Is that quick?

2017-05-31 14:00:40 UTC

no like actual rile that shoots pellets lol

2017-05-31 14:01:11 UTC

2017-05-31 14:01:21 UTC

These pellets?

2017-05-31 14:01:38 UTC

Slaughter houses use guns like that

2017-05-31 14:01:47 UTC

yeah basiaclly

2017-05-31 14:02:14 UTC

@The Blond Beast beast feast when

2017-05-31 14:02:32 UTC

Well damn. I gotta get on this. Thanks for the info guys

2017-05-31 14:02:52 UTC

Don't get attention to them

2017-05-31 14:03:13 UTC

Cause they will get tame and want to be petted

2017-05-31 14:03:16 UTC

soon lads we will feast

2017-05-31 14:04:46 UTC

Can I bring dessert too

2017-05-31 14:04:48 UTC

Is making them tame/calm before killing them to make the meat more tender a real thing or a myth?

2017-05-31 14:05:07 UTC

@Riefen it affects the ph and flavor of it

2017-05-31 14:05:20 UTC

And the texture of the beef

2017-05-31 14:05:43 UTC

So I should go for calming them and then once they're stress free killing them?

2017-05-31 14:05:56 UTC

Or is it up to each person's taste?

2017-05-31 14:06:39 UTC

wisper in its ear "burgers" see how it reacts

2017-05-31 14:06:44 UTC

Kek

2017-05-31 14:06:48 UTC

Lol

2017-05-31 14:07:05 UTC

@Riefen I tell you how the slaughter house does it

2017-05-31 14:07:23 UTC

They knock them out and then slit their throats

2017-05-31 14:07:41 UTC

To prevent adrenalin from getting to the body?

2017-05-31 14:07:49 UTC

Yeah

2017-05-31 14:07:58 UTC

I am giving you the simplest terms

2017-05-31 14:08:00 UTC

I imagine a cow has a lot of blood

2017-05-31 14:08:06 UTC

It does

2017-05-31 14:08:35 UTC

Smallest cow is like 1000 lbs

2017-05-31 14:08:51 UTC

Large breeds are like 1600

2017-05-31 14:08:55 UTC

calfs taste better than grown cows tho

2017-05-31 14:09:14 UTC

Cows are use for hamburger meat

2017-05-31 14:09:25 UTC

And hotdogs

2017-05-31 14:09:33 UTC

Steers and veal are good

2017-05-31 14:09:45 UTC

Veal is like a 3 month old calf

2017-05-31 14:09:47 UTC

cow tongue, have you tried it?

2017-05-31 14:09:48 UTC

Or younger

2017-05-31 14:09:59 UTC

@The Blond Beast no but I'm going to try it in the fall

2017-05-31 14:10:07 UTC

super good

2017-05-31 14:10:08 UTC

Google tells me between 15 and 25 litres of blood, roughly 5 gallons

2017-05-31 14:10:10 UTC

lots of flavor

2017-05-31 14:10:12 UTC

I heard it taste good

2017-05-31 14:10:20 UTC

40 lbs

2017-05-31 14:10:23 UTC

Of blood

2017-05-31 14:10:38 UTC

8 pounds of milk is like a gallon

2017-05-31 14:10:49 UTC

I imagine it will be the same for blood

2017-05-31 14:11:21 UTC

You know what's good eating a crossbreed calf

2017-05-31 14:11:31 UTC

What should I avoid eating? It seems like people eat almost every part of a cow

2017-05-31 14:11:54 UTC

Probably the heart

2017-05-31 14:12:07 UTC

You can't brains anymore unless in Europe

2017-05-31 14:12:30 UTC

That is what my awesome professor told me

2017-05-31 14:12:42 UTC

People talk a lot online about cow heart being great for you.

Are US cows carriers of prion disease?

2017-05-31 14:12:46 UTC

Don't get any Indian breed

2017-05-31 14:12:55 UTC

Or a calf with a bunch of ear

2017-05-31 14:13:25 UTC

A bunch of ear?

Like cauliflower ear that wrestlers get?

2017-05-31 14:13:51 UTC

A show you a pic

2017-05-31 14:14:53 UTC

Never mind

2017-05-31 14:15:03 UTC

I don't feel like getting hay fever

2017-05-31 14:15:26 UTC

Buy something that has small ears cause they won't have Indian influence

2017-05-31 14:17:00 UTC

I googled and I think I see what you mean.

Why are poo in loo cows bad?

2017-05-31 14:17:09 UTC

2017-05-31 14:17:14 UTC

Don't get this breed

2017-05-31 14:17:16 UTC

Just because they're Indian and India is filthy or?

2017-05-31 14:17:21 UTC

No

2017-05-31 14:17:26 UTC

Just extra skin

2017-05-31 14:17:36 UTC

And they don't gain enough weight

2017-05-31 14:17:48 UTC

As fast as a n angus

2017-05-31 14:19:09 UTC

I barely mess with beef so word is not as good
