Well sure I guess Slavery to serve a punishment isnโ€™t so bad

2019-09-09 22:40:49 UTC

@DoobyCooby My point exactly

2019-09-09 22:41:27 UTC

slavery also allowed people who were starving to serve a wealthier man who could provide for them, and then start off again in 7-20 years with money, even possibly land.

2019-09-09 22:41:29 UTC

Because it is very profitable for a select few who pay off republicans to allow further exploration of the incarcerated population

2019-09-09 22:41:44 UTC

Yea no

2019-09-09 22:41:45 UTC

way different than straight up kidnapping or buying someone to use as slaves

2019-09-09 22:41:54 UTC

@Silver And the democrats? No democrat opposes this legal allowance of slavery

2019-09-09 22:42:00 UTC

Not in 99.9999% of the cases

2019-09-09 22:42:07 UTC

They do

2019-09-09 22:42:13 UTC

Show please?

2019-09-09 22:42:24 UTC

Have you seen all those prison reform shits?

2019-09-09 22:42:26 UTC

Which democrat has proposed legislation to remove this?

2019-09-09 22:42:28 UTC

AOC duh

2019-09-09 22:42:32 UTC

Link?

2019-09-09 22:42:51 UTC

So the taxpayer should support them while they sip coffee in a prison yard?

2019-09-09 22:42:54 UTC

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

2019-09-09 22:42:56 UTC

AOC?

2019-09-09 22:42:58 UTC

Second, to remove this legal slavery from U.S law - since it is in the consitition would require a constitional amendment

2019-09-09 22:43:02 UTC

Virtually impossible nowadays

2019-09-09 22:43:05 UTC

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez?

2019-09-09 22:43:10 UTC

Yes

2019-09-09 22:43:18 UTC

Thatโ€™s who you bring in?

2019-09-09 22:43:21 UTC
2019-09-09 22:43:33 UTC

I just asked who proposed legislation to remove it from law

2019-09-09 22:43:35 UTC

I dont care who

2019-09-09 22:43:36 UTC

The woman who lied at a border fence.

2019-09-09 22:43:47 UTC

2019-09-09 22:44:08 UTC

@Silver Has she proposed legislation, or just talked about it?

2019-09-09 22:44:43 UTC

imo we should abolish prisons

2019-09-09 22:44:46 UTC

replace them with labor camps

2019-09-09 22:44:52 UTC

damn

2019-09-09 22:45:02 UTC

Prisons are inherently bad.

2019-09-09 22:45:05 UTC

Youโ€™re going straight up Stalin on our asses

2019-09-09 22:45:10 UTC

Punishment should be fast.

2019-09-09 22:45:13 UTC

@DoobyCooby Hear me out

2019-09-09 22:45:22 UTC

That doesn't lead to rehabilitation and just perpetuates criminality

2019-09-09 22:45:36 UTC

Lashings, whips, even crucifixion for rapists and murderers.

2019-09-09 22:45:50 UTC

Fast, painful and quick.

2019-09-09 22:45:56 UTC

Donโ€™t drag it out

2019-09-09 22:45:59 UTC

Prisoners do nothing 22 hours a day, just socialize with other criminals and form gangs.
@DoobyCooby Why not put them to work? Im not talking about cruel working conditions that break backs

2019-09-09 22:46:19 UTC

Assembly lines, logging, mining

2019-09-09 22:46:28 UTC

Yeah that sounds alright

2019-09-09 22:46:33 UTC

Better than giving it to illegals

2019-09-09 22:46:50 UTC

Dont get into illegals just yet

2019-09-09 22:46:53 UTC

lets focus on prisoners

2019-09-09 22:46:57 UTC

Lols

2019-09-09 22:47:12 UTC

Least itโ€™s not the โ€œwork faster or weโ€™ll shoot you in each limbโ€ kind of thing

2019-09-09 22:47:16 UTC

They should be compensated for their labor, so they can re-enter society as a functional person

2019-09-09 22:47:28 UTC

I could agree with that.

2019-09-09 22:47:38 UTC

@DoobyCooby And instead of "timed" sentences, such as say 5 years

2019-09-09 22:47:44 UTC

Instead it should be monetary

2019-09-09 22:47:54 UTC

So lets say you commit a crime

2019-09-09 22:48:06 UTC

And how it would be evaluted is a whole nother beast

2019-09-09 22:48:13 UTC

But for the sake of exampple

2019-09-09 22:48:21 UTC

We'll say your crime is $40,000

2019-09-09 22:48:29 UTC

What about really rich people. They could theoretically rape a little girl and pay it off.

2019-09-09 22:48:31 UTC

So you must preform $40,000 worth of manual labor

2019-09-09 22:48:41 UTC

@Attika true

2019-09-09 22:48:48 UTC

So until you work to produce $40,000 worth of goods, you are not free

2019-09-09 22:48:57 UTC

This way, hard work means you are released faster

2019-09-09 22:49:03 UTC

and lazy prisoners can stay for life if they refuse to work

2019-09-09 22:49:16 UTC

What about the elderly? Or juveniles?

2019-09-09 22:49:22 UTC

@Attika Read what i say again

2019-09-09 22:49:28 UTC

@Silver Work will match their skill

2019-09-09 22:49:30 UTC

man
hard work really does set you free

2019-09-09 22:49:32 UTC

No I think Iโ€™m starting to get it.

2019-09-09 22:49:34 UTC

So buffed workers can harder work

2019-09-09 22:49:40 UTC

You canโ€™t pay youโ€™re way.

2019-09-09 22:49:45 UTC

Yes

2019-09-09 22:49:50 UTC

And you cant just "wait" it out either

2019-09-09 22:49:54 UTC

You have to work for your freedom

2019-09-09 22:49:56 UTC

You could have 500 million dollars. But you still have to work 50 grand worth.

2019-09-09 22:50:04 UTC

Yes

2019-09-09 22:50:24 UTC

If some criminal cannot work manually, genuinely, they can be assigned to mental labor

2019-09-09 22:50:32 UTC

Juveniles could get reduced fees. Elderly...

2019-09-09 22:50:47 UTC

๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

2019-09-09 22:51:01 UTC

Elderly can be assigned mental labor

2019-09-09 22:51:12 UTC

No prison should be about rehabilitation, social care, making sure there is less recividism

2019-09-09 22:51:19 UTC

Less crime

2019-09-09 22:51:22 UTC

๐Ÿ˜‚

2019-09-09 22:51:23 UTC

In short

2019-09-09 22:51:41 UTC

Functional penal system

2019-09-09 22:51:42 UTC

@Silver Manual Labor could work in conjunction with rehabilitation

2019-09-09 22:51:45 UTC

The 2 are not at odds

2019-09-09 22:52:00 UTC

Lols. So the guy who killed a guy and raped his wife should get what? A slap on the wrist and a visit to a phycologist?

2019-09-09 22:52:06 UTC

I agree if the person is compensated and isn't forced

2019-09-09 22:52:14 UTC

It's not forced

2019-09-09 22:52:16 UTC

It's still prison

2019-09-09 22:52:21 UTC

It's up to them to earn their freedom

2019-09-09 22:52:35 UTC

A lazy person who has $10,000 worth to work off can be in prison for life if he refuses to work

2019-09-09 22:52:44 UTC

Up to the individual

2019-09-09 22:53:10 UTC

So prisoners can theoretically stay in prison indefinitely, draining funds from the state, real smath

2019-09-09 22:53:21 UTC

But they stay there for life.

2019-09-09 22:53:37 UTC

Boxed up in an itty bitty cell.

2019-09-09 22:53:44 UTC

Better to choose death.

2019-09-09 22:53:48 UTC

@Silver Okay, so then they forced to work if they do not work off their sentence at a similar pace as other prisoners

2019-09-09 22:54:09 UTC

I also think you should be able to pay it off via old fashioned punishment.

2019-09-09 22:54:14 UTC

What if theyโ€™re about to reach their required net worth and they get seriously hurt to the point they canโ€™t work
or letโ€™s say it messess them up physically and mentally?

2019-09-09 22:54:44 UTC

So? It's bad economically, morally and results in recividism

2019-09-09 22:55:13 UTC

@DoobyCooby They can be taken care of in recovery until they are able to work again, if they are permanently handicapped both physically and mentally - they go to a care home because they cant readjust into society anyways
