it goes in tighter and looser circles to create seasons, covering different parts of the land masses at different times over the year

to make it as efficient as possible to get as much land mass as possible warmed

The sun would go out side the map to make it path in the southern sky.. This is not the case

the reason anartica is super cold is because the sun doesn't go out that far, so it is icy and a natural barrier
