That can either be a good or bad thing

2021-02-15 20:39:35 UTC

Good in my spot, bad where the houses burnt. To many chemicals

2021-02-15 20:39:43 UTC

Indeed

2021-02-15 20:39:55 UTC

If you go fishing or process alot of animals and stuff bury the scraps and mix with carbon and ash and also lawn clippings and rotting stuff its some of the best fertilizer you can get

2021-02-15 20:40:22 UTC

Yeah I have purified fish liquid

2021-02-15 20:40:26 UTC

For my tomatoes

2021-02-15 20:41:20 UTC

If you want to burn up that stuff poor the soil or ash into an extremely hot fire and it will get rid of them

2021-02-15 20:42:14 UTC

Town was burnt out and the sky went red. This picture was taken at 2:00 pm

2021-02-15 20:42:30 UTC

Wow thats insane

2021-02-15 20:42:49 UTC

Is the air hard to breathe there or is it just in the upper atmosphere

2021-02-15 20:43:49 UTC

Itโ€™s cleared now. This was from the CZU lighting complex. This was last year but the trees are still falling.

2021-02-15 20:43:56 UTC

Damn

2021-02-15 20:44:16 UTC

And all the pests/ animals are pushed into my area so pest control just got WAY harder

2021-02-15 20:44:36 UTC

Iโ€™m gonna have serious bug issues this year

2021-02-15 20:44:42 UTC

Ya they will do that but they do make good firewood because the fire dries them out

2021-02-15 20:45:12 UTC

I have these black grasshoppers that come every year

2021-02-15 20:45:35 UTC

Back then me and my brothers would go on a genocide killing them all with BB guns

2021-02-15 20:45:47 UTC

Any tips on growing plants in a college dorm? Just starting lavender, vegetables, and a few other flowers.

2021-02-15 20:45:55 UTC

Ooh nice!

2021-02-15 20:45:56 UTC

Yeah, the wood is super dense lol. Most of it is being cut into lumber. Sequoia Redwood is very expensive.

2021-02-15 20:46:09 UTC

Maybe a hydroponics setup

2021-02-15 20:46:25 UTC

Depends how much sun you get

2021-02-15 20:46:31 UTC

Make sure you buy a LED setup so you can keep them well lighted

2021-02-15 20:46:43 UTC

Unless you have a south facing window

2021-02-15 20:46:46 UTC

Grow lights are a must indoors

2021-02-15 20:46:56 UTC

Yeah

2021-02-15 20:47:23 UTC

I usually just use heat lamps

2021-02-15 20:47:32 UTC

@SPRTNWRRYR1974 itโ€™s not that hard trust me! I grew pumpkins in my room

2021-02-15 20:47:33 UTC

They mimic the sun very well

2021-02-15 20:48:09 UTC

Got LED and a south facing window.

2021-02-15 20:48:18 UTC

Ok good thatโ€™s a start

2021-02-15 20:48:33 UTC

This channel filled up fast.

2021-02-15 20:48:33 UTC

What you want to do is have proper water drainage

2021-02-15 20:48:49 UTC

Because root rot is the last thing you want

2021-02-15 20:48:53 UTC

Itโ€™s a small room though and I still need dirt.

2021-02-15 20:49:10 UTC

Most of the plants donโ€™t need to be started for at least a month though.

2021-02-15 20:49:17 UTC

Buy clean dirt because you donโ€™t want pests

2021-02-15 20:49:34 UTC

You can make your own compost in a 5 gallon bucket if you want

2021-02-15 20:49:41 UTC

Eh depends on what type. Are they UV/blue light?

2021-02-15 20:49:49 UTC

Uv

2021-02-15 20:49:53 UTC

Most heat lamps are red light

2021-02-15 20:49:57 UTC

Ah

2021-02-15 20:50:26 UTC

@SPRTNWRRYR1974 you can buy a seedling heat mat that will help your plants grow and stay warm

2021-02-15 20:50:32 UTC

I use UV heat lamps for my Pac-Man frog terrarium for the tropical plants.

2021-02-15 20:50:36 UTC

You can buy them for like $20

2021-02-15 20:50:55 UTC

They have a vaporized mercury gas in them and a lense that filters out all other light except this dim redish purple light

2021-02-15 20:51:05 UTC

Make sure the heat isnโ€™t too close tho lol. Iโ€™ve burnt a few seedlings when I started out

2021-02-15 20:51:39 UTC

I usually set them near the woodstove on some stone that holds the heat

2021-02-15 20:51:39 UTC

Heat mats are great tho

2021-02-15 20:51:48 UTC

Yeah

2021-02-15 20:51:53 UTC

I have like 3

2021-02-15 20:52:03 UTC

How much do they cost

2021-02-15 20:52:10 UTC

I have a greenhouse where I start everything

2021-02-15 20:52:12 UTC

@SPRTNWRRYR1974 are you starting them from seed?

2021-02-15 20:52:15 UTC

And how much power do they use

2021-02-15 20:52:41 UTC

$10-$20 and the power usage is very low I think

2021-02-15 20:53:36 UTC

Aight itโ€™s been awesome talking to fellow plant lovers! I gotta get to work again. My break is over. So glad they accepted this suggested chat!!!

2021-02-15 20:53:45 UTC

Yeah

2021-02-15 20:53:48 UTC

Iโ€™m exited

2021-02-15 20:54:24 UTC

Iโ€™ll have more to talk about when I start my seeds. Iโ€™m waiting a bit longer tho. Itโ€™s still chilly here.

2021-02-15 20:54:28 UTC

See ya!

2021-02-15 20:55:38 UTC

Alright!

2021-02-15 21:06:39 UTC

What if I canโ€™t buy that?

2021-02-15 21:06:52 UTC

Yes.

2021-02-15 21:09:04 UTC

Do you have a heated blanket

2021-02-15 21:10:58 UTC

well some sort of heating application would be instrumental to your seeds sprouting

2021-02-15 21:11:08 UTC

they are very cheap

2021-02-15 21:11:22 UTC

i recommend you invest in one

2021-02-15 21:11:37 UTC

Yes but he is a student so 10$ is alot

2021-02-15 21:12:16 UTC

true

2021-02-15 21:13:04 UTC

Do you have a heater or radiator of some sort in your dorm @SPRTNWRRYR1974

2021-02-15 21:22:40 UTC

I live in a dorm that has minimal heating (Cary Quad at Purdue), but the temperature never really gets below 70 or so.

2021-02-15 21:25:33 UTC

Thatโ€™s good

2021-02-15 21:25:56 UTC

Get a mini greenhouse and heat mat if you can

2021-02-15 21:27:00 UTC

I might be able to. Does Walmart carry that stuff?

2021-02-15 21:27:16 UTC

You could rent a storage unit and get an adapter for the bulb and run heating lamps of it and put some cardboard on the walls for insulation that way you can have a very large garden if you want

2021-02-15 21:27:47 UTC

I have virtually no money.

2021-02-15 21:28:12 UTC

I only get a minimal stipend from the National Guard and ROTC, and that hasn't started rolling in yet.

2021-02-15 21:30:54 UTC

Um maybe get some scrap metal together to sell for extra money

2021-02-15 21:31:45 UTC

Or do a couple lawns or get a part time job like McDonaldโ€™s or something

2021-02-15 21:36:29 UTC

I can stock trade, but I have to hold them long-term because my mom is a paralegal.

2021-02-15 21:36:36 UTC

i.e., no day trading.

2021-02-15 21:36:56 UTC

Also how can I gather scrap metal? That would be pretty suspicious.

2021-02-15 21:39:53 UTC

Just do wiring and aluminum brass and a few other things put it in buckets and bags there are plenty of channels on YouTube that explain how to do it easily

2021-02-15 21:48:38 UTC

Probably not, go on Amazon tho

2021-02-15 21:48:44 UTC

Thatโ€™s where I got mine

2021-02-15 21:53:13 UTC

Hmmm. I'm supposed to plant the lavender this weekend.

2021-02-15 21:54:30 UTC

And is collecting scrap illegal?

2021-02-15 22:01:13 UTC

No its not as long as your not stock piling hazardous waste or anything you just bring it to a scrap yard near you

2021-02-15 22:01:35 UTC

You can also do e waste which might be better but it depends

2021-02-15 22:02:02 UTC

Also you can try buying and reselling on places like marketplace

2021-02-15 22:03:14 UTC

There are a few channels you can watch if you want to know how do it efficiently and safely and legally i can pm you some links if you want

2021-02-15 22:04:08 UTC

Sure. I'll need to find one in West Lafayette that can be walked to.

2021-02-15 22:04:14 UTC

Or biked to.

2021-02-15 22:04:46 UTC

Yeah try biking and if you can get one of those bike trailers it will make your life easier and itโ€™s really good exercise

2021-02-15 22:06:28 UTC

Bike trailer?

2021-02-15 22:12:28 UTC

Yeah they make them you may have to order one but idk you could also try building one

2021-02-15 23:13:00 UTC

3.5 ounces of apple seeds produces enough cyanide to kill a person

2021-02-15 23:26:03 UTC

yep

2021-02-15 23:26:49 UTC

and if anyone needs any tips on growing, ask me
