Like with the trend of social justice these days I dunno if pedo is going to stay a mental disorder in the DSM. Like a secret group of gays in the 70's collaborated to change the definition of sexual deviance in the DSM and they succeeded. I learned about it from a NPR podcast so itโ€™s not anything right leaning as far as I know. โ€œAlixโ€™s story details the activities of a closeted group of gay psychiatrists within the APA who met in secret and called themselves the GAYPAโ€ So who knows if thereโ€™s not a secret pedo-qabal working to change the definition again. https://www.thisamericanlife.org/204/81-words

I'd actually like to see a pie chart of that if you can conjure one

2020-10-19 06:21:51 UTC

Among all U.S. adults aged 18 and
over, 96.6% identified as straight, 1.6%
identified as gay or lesbian, and 0.7%
identified as bisexual. The remaining
1.1% of adults identified as โ€˜โ€˜something
elseโ€™โ€™ (0.2%), selected โ€˜โ€˜I donโ€™t know the
answerโ€™โ€™ (0.4%), or refused to provide
an answer (0.6%).

CDC, 2014. Owing to social trends, probably an uptick in 'identifications'.

2020-10-19 06:22:29 UTC

Also, bisexuality isn't real

2020-10-19 06:24:27 UTC

I'm actually kinda surprised it's 1/20 people is gay

2020-10-19 06:24:29 UTC

it's a category greatly informed by trauma or lifetime phase

2020-10-19 06:24:58 UTC
2020-10-19 06:25:06 UTC

I would have said like 1/50 or 1/100 in experience

2020-10-19 06:25:12 UTC

though I'm not in a big city

2020-10-19 06:25:31 UTC

yeah; well I think it's actually closer to 1%, but I pulled CDC because people believe in those figures

2020-10-19 06:25:45 UTC

so at the top end, it's 2%, including all the alphabet characters

2020-10-19 06:26:48 UTC

_"phallometric test sensitivities"_

2020-10-19 06:26:50 UTC

2020-10-19 06:27:41 UTC

2020-10-19 06:28:00 UTC

2020-10-19 06:28:09 UTC

people's buffering sound was "that's problematic"

2020-10-19 06:28:37 UTC

no one says what they mean and no one believes what they say

2020-10-19 06:29:08 UTC

I just want to see the math of how they did the test

2020-10-19 06:29:15 UTC

like threshold

2020-10-19 06:29:18 UTC

how did they normalize

2020-10-19 06:29:32 UTC

like

2020-10-19 06:29:37 UTC

I think it was sample groups; but were they cities?

2020-10-19 06:29:44 UTC

rural / urban balance

2020-10-19 06:29:48 UTC

2020-10-19 06:29:57 UTC

the nitty gritty

2020-10-19 06:30:13 UTC

or flippy floppy in this case

2020-10-19 06:31:30 UTC

Yeah weakening of language is a thing
