Thomas @thomas

This is a scripted message. An important announcement has just been posted in the #announcements channel. Please review it in detail and follow the instructions given. If we have not conversed recently (or since the last scripted message), give me an update on your organizing and any questions or matters I can assist with. Thank you.

Thomas @thomas

What are you referring to, here?

Tyler WA @PF-983004

His spray adhesive

Thomas @thomas

Why the coded language?

Tyler WA @PF-983004

What coded language?

Thomas @thomas

wiffleball bat is a literal term? You guys are out there playing wiffleball?

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Yea we went to the hardware store to buy paint for the signs, and he bought a wiffleball bat and ball. We didn't use it and he left it in the mudroom

Thomas @thomas

Why?

Tyler WA @PF-983004

I asked him the same question.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Hey Thomas, is there a reason you don’t make vinyl stickers?

Thomas @thomas

Vinyl is more expensive and comes off in one sheet unlike paper which comes off in tiny rips.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

I’ve actually been having a hard time taking down opposition vinyl stickers in Seattle. Sometimes it’s one piece like you describe, other times it’s little chunks. If cost wasn’t an issue, would you use vinyl instead?

Thomas @thomas

Those might be special eggshell type vinyl. Even more expensive.

If it wasn't, then probably no still. Ours are tough to take down, and regular paper is easier to work with. If placed right, they can last a year on a pole. Even then, we live in a world where resources have scarcity and cost money.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Copy that

Thomas @thomas

Np, happy to help.

Thomas @thomas

Give me an assessment of the situation.

Your first job is risk evaluation. Determine immediately your personal and physical safety requirements. If that is a concern, then pack up your needed items, computer, activism supplies, etc., and stay with a member in the area for a few days.

Then, see what the result will be in regards to work, landlords, etc. They will have likely already made up their minds, or will do so soon. Mostly regardless of your own statements. So I would not be too concerned with persuasion.

Once you can determine the damage, plan a solution. Need a new job, place to stay, anything like that, we can and will supply you with the needed counsel and support to make all of that so. You will arrive on the other end of this trial a stronger and more unassailable man.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Girlfriend is packing. I’m working. Soon as I get home will start packing. They left fliers all over the neighborhood. Landlord likes me so said she’ll tell people it’s someone messing with me.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

my girlfriend will probably lose her career. She’s a trooper though. Not sure if they figured out where I work.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

I’ll probably sleep in my service van near my gym until I figure out where to go

Thomas @thomas

What is her career? How was she identified?

Think about how you may prevent any issues coming to your work.

If you are sleeping in a service vehicle, where is the girlfriend going in the meantime? If the landlord is friendly, what may be the risk of staying at home with a heightened sense of caution? Is there no one in the area who could lodge you?

Tyler WA @PF-983004

She works for a map company that is sub’d by apple. They got her Instagram and LinkedIn

Tyler WA @PF-983004

if my union finds out I’ll just say I’m being targeted because I got into an altercation by some extremists and they’re trying to defame and intimidate me

Tyler WA @PF-983004

the risk is they show up and smash our cars or initiate violence against us. It’s Seattle after all. I imagine they will target her neighborhood next and throw fliers everywhere at minimum

Tyler WA @PF-983004

i will send girlfriend to Oregon to stay with my mom if need be. Maybe Ethan wa can house her for a bit.

Thomas @thomas

Sure thing. Keep John updated with your plans. It sounds like you're going to be okay. If you get through the first two weeks, the rest is nothing.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Commies don’t scare me

Thomas @thomas

Of course. Caution, not paranoia.

Thomas @thomas

This is a scripted message. Please make sure to review the recent announcement. Thank you.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Hey Thomas, I’ve been laid off from work because I moved too far away, not because of the doxx. My union organizer left me a message to call him. I suspect he has seen the report. Any advice on what I should say? I was planning on saying the bare minimum: it’s all slander, defamation, lies, and I’m working on getting attorney. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thomas @thomas

If it has nothing to do with the dox, then I would not lead with that.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

What do you mean? I’m sure he wants to talk about what was posted.

Thomas @thomas

How do you know?

Tyler WA @PF-983004

I don’t, but hypothetically, if he brings it up, advice?

Tyler WA @PF-983004

im certainly not going to talk about it if he doesn’t bring it up

Thomas @thomas

You could deny and say you aren't familiar with it, and that it has nothing to do with your work, whatever it is.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Ok. Deny everything. Easy enough.

Thomas @thomas

It's ultimately your call. I can't know all the details.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Whatever happens happens.

Thomas @thomas

The only way out is forward.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Hey. girlfriend is getting terminated from her job. We contacted L&I and they said it would be discrimination. Do you or anyone in the broader network know any good attorney's we can trust in WA that could review or help her with a discrimination lawsuit?

Thomas @thomas

Who is L&I? I wouldn't have any references for an attorney licensed in WA, but you wouldn't necessarily need one who is like minded. The question comes down to: Would it cost more to get her a different job, or to successfully fund a lawsuit?

Tyler WA @PF-983004

L&I is workers' comp, workplace safety, labor and consumer protection, trades licensing, contractor registration and license lookup for public safety in Washington State. They're a go

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Well she's being discriminated against and her career is probably ruined

Tyler WA @PF-983004

A consultation to me seems to be the minimum. L&I said she has a case. We just need a solid attorney to handle it for us

Thomas @thomas

Doxxes don't last forever. It'll be in people's memories for a few weeks, and then it'll get buried in timelines and search results after a few months. Even then, if months have passed, it can be dismissed much more easily. I would not say outright that a career is ruined in either case. Maybe the L&I has attorneys or can suggest them. I'm not familiar with the institution.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

It's not so much what people think. I know it will all be mostly forgotten. It's really about being able to continue working and earn a living. I'd like to buy a house and start a family.

Thomas @thomas

Long term plans need not be affected was my point. It's not a matter between winning a lawsuit and abandoning your life goals.

Thomas @thomas

Moral of the story is stay flexible.
