I'm looking at apartments in Cedar and RR, what should I be looking for? I know I don't need 2 bedrooms, just one. From the apartments I've seen so far they all have pools, does that make them more expensive?
It is seeing how much I'll be making within my trial period and how much it'll cost for 3 months
Usually you can't do 3 month leases. It's usually 1 year. That said, look at rates and what amenities they offer, and then choose which you think best serves your interests. Consider travel distance to and from where you want to go. Consider gas money when calculating distance. Aside from that, just try to find something you could be pleased with for a year. The thing about apartments is that after the year, they tend to raise rates, so unless you can lock in a 2yr lease, after the 1st year you will most likely move to save money.
For the 3 months, you'll want to find alternative lodging
Also, it might be worth getting a roommate because 2 bedroom apts can be a few hundred bucks cheaper since y'all are splitting the rent. However, that comes with risk when the roommate can't pay.
If you go that route, be sure the guy can handle money.
Well, Will still has a lease and James already has a place, so idk anyone close who's looking
Personally, I would do 3 months in alternative lodging, and during that time hunt for apartment. Apartments will want a deposit. If you the training doesn't go well, you have no reason for the apartment, and all you lose is the deposit. It sucks, but that's better than being stuck in a 1 year lease.
Well, you have 3 months to find someone, so put it out there in PP and PF. Maybe someone might want to move to Austin.
so that airbnb you mentioned?
There is a lot of job opportunity out here. Like tesla
Yeah, finding a airbnb would be the way to go, imo.
Or, call around to "long stay" hotels and see if the manager can hook you up with a good deal.
Sometimes they can.
But you have to call because it won't be advertised.
I never fully understood what those are really. Is it just something someone rents out or?
Airbnb are like the Uber version of lodging, and it can be broken down as sharing a room, sharing a house or whole house to yourself.
I think your best option would be to do the share a house thing. I would suggest getting a room with private bath.
The common areas would be shared.
Otherwise, the hotel idea is the next best thing so that you can have your privacy given the PF duties.
Do hotels allow you to stay for long periods of time?
100 bucks a night for a hotel room would be too much.
thought would be ~3000 a month
There are hotels specific for long term stays. And like I said, they have deals that aren't advertised.
this one airbnb in cedar is 48 a night ~1440 a month
You'll have to call and speak with the manager. Let them know what your situation is.
if im supposedly getting 5000 a month before taxes that could work
Sure, but you might be able to find better deals. This is how people save the most money. Big ticket items are worth haggling over.
Also, if you give me dates, I can check my marriott account and see if I can get you a good deal that way.
Ok, well, I'll still need to talk to the guy tomorrow and see what a start date could be and what my for sure monthly pay will be starting off
I'll go and get checked in, and then you stay there.
You'll get some nice deals like free breakfast
That would be much appreciated Billy
