There's also the fact that this further disincentivizes integration. I could stay where I'm at where they speak my language, or in could learn a whole 'nother language to fit in over here

I think being able to communicate is important, but I don't think it's a deal breaker. Likewise, you could tell me in english why you are about to kill me and I wouldn't feel all that great that you can speak my language.
