i dono ethan got popular because he can just sorta go off on a topic, but his ability to do this with say trends, or youtubers etc doesn't translate so well to current events

2018-09-11 03:36:49 UTC

I don't know how to self censor.

2018-09-11 03:38:11 UTC

its hard

2018-09-11 05:16:55 UTC

I don’t understand the mentality of the labor system when it comes to schooling

2018-09-11 05:17:20 UTC

Students typically stay in school from 8 am to 3:15 pm

2018-09-11 05:17:38 UTC

That’s 7 hours a day, but this doesn’t take into account extra time spent

2018-09-11 05:17:56 UTC

And it typically blocks students from resources for 48 hours

2018-09-11 05:18:21 UTC

A student is also required to pass a class or move on a grade to finish x amount of work from homework to class work

2018-09-11 05:18:40 UTC

In some cases homework takes upwards of 3 hours

2018-09-11 05:18:58 UTC

Other times work can extend all the way until 2 in the morning

2018-09-11 05:19:32 UTC

skool droolz

2018-09-11 05:25:08 UTC

teaching kids what to think is hard work.

2018-09-11 05:25:17 UTC

Students who may follow an 8 hour period to sleep, spend 1 hour getting too school in the morning. Proceed to spend an hour before school because their transportation drops them off early. Then spend the typical 7 hours with only one 30 minute break and brief periods of time between classes which are intended as resting periods and to move to classes are hindered because classes may range in distance so students find themselves continuing daily in a never-ending repetitive movements before getting to the end of their days at 3pm. Now assuming that it takes them another hour to return home, they may arrive home at 4pm. Then proceed to work maybe 2 hours on homework. Roughly (and this is dependent on factors including distance, time spent on homework, and a possible early out day) a student spends 11 hours and 30 minutes per day focused on school.

2018-09-11 05:26:46 UTC

Students also expect 2-3 month long breaks per year, these are months typically met without work done. Students will lack the availability to retain knowledge and will return the next year to “learn” through some basic facts and statements again.

Reworking schools is tricky and has to be done on a case by case basis

2018-09-11 05:53:05 UTC

Current debates center around homework and how effective it really its. Current consensus is that it is a necessary part of teaching. Being able to apply the skill on your own is an essential part of learning.

2018-09-11 06:02:23 UTC

One of the solutions ive heard is that all assignments should be on a final due date schedule. At the start of the year students get a list and description of all assignments alongside a lesson schedule. They can do the assignments in any order provided they are done by a certain point in the school year, which will probably be 1-2 months before summer. Only exams would be excluded from this system. Failure to finish on time would result in students doing the work at school during the summer and attend extra lessons.

@Lagomaster24 i think the left bais in media, likewise for different reasons in cities, and probably the opposite (right leaning in rural religious areas) is pretty common

2018-09-11 07:05:13 UTC

i do wonder if many people may have different values, but just agree to censor it for their own social and economic livelyhood

2018-09-11 07:05:35 UTC

maybe not #1 reason, but probs top 3 reason why varied views and freedom of speech matters, nobody should have to lie about their actual beliefs

2018-09-11 08:33:13 UTC

Yes, and the way that institutions discriminate on political viewpoint and have been playing censor is the whole driver of this "ideological diversity" stuff that's going around.
