We do a pretty good job of educating the normies as to why nazism and fascism are bad, but we do a really, really shitty job of educating people as to why communism and totalitarian socialism are bad.

Sadly i don't think this is often true, most center libs will quietly dislike their own but still vote for them, it varies based off demographics and whatnot id assume.
The only one that you really can argue for are the ones *actually* implied by the paradox of tolerance. Which has to deal not with "tolerance" in the modern sense of the word but in things like those that would kill off ideas like freedom of speech.

i think a good argument could be made, it would help ALOT if there was a voice for more center left to call out their further left elements, but it gets into the cultural problem we currently suffer where most people don't easily identify when the left is too far left (they may on personal level but can't usually word it/feel ability to speak out)
