why, what is there to hate
Too long to fit chat
modern cinema or cinema in general?
why, what is there to hate
right on.
At first i thought it's modern cinema, but by now i think it pretty much applies to film as a whole
ok
I might guess as to why
well the thing about cinema is that it leaves no room for the imagination
at least modern cinema
Pretty much the only kind of films i can bother watching nowadays are either war films or so called "art films"
human brain has difficulty suspending belief, movies in a way supplant natural intake and assessment
"art films" only if they don't deal with social or sentimental themes
what you see, regardless if film, it becomes a reality in brain assessment of environment and higher thought
umm... art films is a pretty general term
could you elaborate
I have no problem enjoying the cinema
although I do filter my viewing a lot
just watched "The Descent"
hmmm tana bailed. sad.
so you enjoy the silent films of old, in a way?
more facial emotion as example
ok have you tried Michael Haneke?
Nope
71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance was impressive
I recently enjoyed a film by Tarkovsky, called Solaris
But I don't really consider it to be exceptional to my general sentiments about cinema
@Metalheim Have you seen a film called Dr. Caligari?
umm... no
I mean i enjoyed a drumb and bass and trance party i attended couple of weeks ago, which doesnt mean i dont hate trance and drum and bass
well, Haneke is pretty anti-cinematic
there's not much dialogue
@Metalheim Who could blame you? It's the earliest form of German expressionist film.
alright might need to check it out
I am no film-fanatic
I enjoy horror films and Finnish cinema
Dr. Caligari is a name that I've heard somewhere
Is it a horror film?
You could call it that, yes.
It is known for its stylistic sets, sharp angles and comment on Europe in 1920s. Not sure when it was flimed.
