why, what is there to hate

2017-01-16 23:46:02 UTC

Too long to fit chat

2017-01-16 23:46:15 UTC

modern cinema or cinema in general?

2017-01-16 23:46:27 UTC

why, what is there to hate

2017-01-16 23:46:28 UTC

right on.

2017-01-16 23:46:35 UTC

At first i thought it's modern cinema, but by now i think it pretty much applies to film as a whole

2017-01-16 23:46:44 UTC

ok

2017-01-16 23:46:57 UTC

I might guess as to why

2017-01-16 23:47:09 UTC

well the thing about cinema is that it leaves no room for the imagination

2017-01-16 23:47:15 UTC

at least modern cinema

2017-01-16 23:47:42 UTC

Pretty much the only kind of films i can bother watching nowadays are either war films or so called "art films"

2017-01-16 23:48:03 UTC

human brain has difficulty suspending belief, movies in a way supplant natural intake and assessment

2017-01-16 23:48:54 UTC

"art films" only if they don't deal with social or sentimental themes

2017-01-16 23:48:55 UTC

what you see, regardless if film, it becomes a reality in brain assessment of environment and higher thought

2017-01-16 23:49:23 UTC

umm... art films is a pretty general term

2017-01-16 23:49:43 UTC

could you elaborate

2017-01-16 23:50:21 UTC

I have no problem enjoying the cinema

2017-01-16 23:50:41 UTC

although I do filter my viewing a lot

2017-01-16 23:51:12 UTC

just watched "The Descent"

2017-01-16 23:52:23 UTC

hmmm tana bailed. sad.

2017-01-16 23:55:15 UTC

Film's fatal flaw is it's reliance on conversations

2017-01-16 23:55:58 UTC

so you enjoy the silent films of old, in a way?

2017-01-16 23:56:42 UTC

more facial emotion as example

2017-01-16 23:57:58 UTC

ok have you tried Michael Haneke?

2017-01-16 23:59:40 UTC

Nope

2017-01-17 00:00:13 UTC

71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance was impressive

2017-01-17 00:00:17 UTC

I recently enjoyed a film by Tarkovsky, called Solaris

2017-01-17 00:00:45 UTC

But I don't really consider it to be exceptional to my general sentiments about cinema

2017-01-17 00:01:11 UTC

@Metalheim Have you seen a film called Dr. Caligari?

2017-01-17 00:01:20 UTC

umm... no

2017-01-17 00:01:25 UTC

I mean i enjoyed a drumb and bass and trance party i attended couple of weeks ago, which doesnt mean i dont hate trance and drum and bass

2017-01-17 00:02:49 UTC

well, Haneke is pretty anti-cinematic

2017-01-17 00:03:00 UTC

there's not much dialogue

2017-01-17 00:03:13 UTC

@Metalheim Who could blame you? It's the earliest form of German expressionist film.

2017-01-17 00:03:29 UTC

alright might need to check it out

2017-01-17 00:04:00 UTC

I am no film-fanatic

2017-01-17 00:04:20 UTC

I enjoy horror films and Finnish cinema

2017-01-17 00:05:05 UTC

Dr. Caligari is a name that I've heard somewhere

2017-01-17 00:05:44 UTC

Is it a horror film?

2017-01-17 00:07:07 UTC

You could call it that, yes.

2017-01-17 00:09:33 UTC

It is known for its stylistic sets, sharp angles and comment on Europe in 1920s. Not sure when it was flimed.
