Ultimately Blackwater was the SpaceX of ~~killing the enemies of the state~~ securing the priorities of the state, through force if necessary.
for the orders of their superiors who make all the moneyt
and fight non of the battles
you can call them niave, brainwashed, or fooled. but most have a noble cause that has been abused
unfortunately the left is going back to the "baby killer" days of Vietnam
Honestly I think most of the immorality stems from the fact that major contracts are not often awarded solely on the merits if the supplier
Nor are RFPs drafted toward the genuine priorities of the military.
government contract go the the lowest bidder
Sorta
who then fuck up and balloon costs or straight up lied
of course, the state ensures who can bid the lowest for it by paying them through the backdoor
and yes, leaving it open for ex-post-facto increases
when the _sunk cost fallacy_ becomes an effective tool for marketing the renegotiation of these contracts.
That's how we get the F35
the most useless, and most expensive, airplane ever built.
At least the airplanes at RedBull Flugtag don't cost the taxpayer more than a trillion dollars, and somebody gets some joy from them.
I’m just saying, I was interested in analyzing trump’s 30 minute UN speech.
Sometime tomorrow?
If you have a transcript, put it up on google docs or whatever and see if we can gather some annotations
ironically all the time spent on the f35 is making it also the only option
@Grenade123 that's not true either
@Grenade123 it's _still_ not a true sunk cost
well i mean you can buy from russia or china
They don't need this class of aircraft
they never did
which "class"
They can get 100% of the desired capabilities with retrofits
They posted it on WH gov website
it comes in 3 flavors
"multi-role design"
I’m a bit busy bye
master of none: military airplane edition
well thats the point, retrofitting old airframes which are outdated. and the cost per unit has been coming down on the f35 where that is starting to not make as much sense as it used to
It's like they got neapolitan
and added more vanilla to all three
now you have "chocolate vanilla, WAAAY TOO VANILLA, and strawberry vanilla"
The big issue with the F35 is outstanding orders
and the corresponding agreements to purchase the parts from all sorts of NATO folks
has there been any military design contract that hasn't been an utter trainwreck?
