Yes but,

over here they can put a majority party out of the whole system

if the other parties decided to band together against said party

and it only has to collect enough to form a majority

essentially you can end up with your vote being the majority vote and still end up in the opposition

and when you are dealing with an increasing partisan mentality

well, look at trump and how everything he says or does is bad per default according to some ppl

ive seen that already in my country with a certain party, which are pretty far right lets be honest

I mean, he does say a lot of awful stuffs

federal level politics here, honestly at this point i dont see how those matter anymore

yea i been pretty happy with the mayor we had here for the last few years

but im very unhappy with his party on the federal level

since the current mayor and the one before her had been excellent mayors and helped to clean up the mess from the new order era

tidied up the streets, made canals and better sewer system

I'm both eager and worried on what kind of candidate will come forward

I know nothing of indonesian politics but didnt u guys have some serious authoritarian issues not so long ago? or am i confusing that with some of the other countries there

yeah, we had an american-backed authoritarian regime from 1966 to 1998

where people had been killed and jailed for diverging from the reigning party

and we've had some transition era to dismantle much of the damages

although very slowly

see thats the thing with these authoritarian regimes

they never last

Its always a question about how much damage is going to be done before it collapses

Well i always think of those things and then it puts thing in perspective from the stupid things we need to deal with here

I remember that we were sent to another town to avoid troubles since there were plenty of anti-chinese tensions

like having a 30 year+ long debate about wether or not we gonna build a bridge.
