Maybe that is different now with the internet.

2018-10-23 05:43:20 UTC

The Gulag Archipelago detailed this well.

2018-10-23 05:43:25 UTC

Yeah if it's a slow thing, but I'm talking about the marshal law scenario

2018-10-23 05:43:39 UTC

The army of the Soviet Union was incredibly weak for years before that fall.

2018-10-23 05:43:56 UTC

If people had formed militias, it could have ended far sooner, but they were taken away one by one.

2018-10-23 05:44:12 UTC

They still believed in the cause, some even when they were already in the Gulag.

2018-10-23 05:44:51 UTC

Every productive person in Sweden could just decide to stop paying taxes and the migrant crises would end within a month.

2018-10-23 05:45:20 UTC

The thing is, people are divided against each other, so they get states that abuse the ones who are most compliant.

2018-10-23 05:45:41 UTC

The migrant crisis isn't as bad as the Swedish government using it's military to strike it's own people. You keep changing the scenario.

2018-10-23 05:45:58 UTC

Also, Sweden isn't America

2018-10-23 05:46:08 UTC

No, it's actually a very similar scenario.

2018-10-23 05:46:18 UTC

I see there being one thread in all of this.

2018-10-23 05:46:43 UTC

Bad policy harming a country is not the same as military force on one's own populace.

2018-10-23 05:46:50 UTC

I see it all as the abuse of dysfunctional states that no longer serve their people but are there to abuse them.

2018-10-23 05:46:55 UTC

Yes there can be a theme in there that's the same, but the scale is so much different

2018-10-23 05:47:19 UTC

The issue with the modern state is that they have become a purpose onto their own end and perpetration.

2018-10-23 05:47:59 UTC

The scale? Sure it's different for countries of different sizes.

2018-10-23 05:48:08 UTC

Stop right there

2018-10-23 05:48:15 UTC

I'm not talking about scale of US v Sweden

2018-10-23 05:48:15 UTC

But the types of abuses, the kinds of laws that are being enacted all over the place are very similar.

2018-10-23 05:48:27 UTC

I said the situation of migrants and military occupation

2018-10-23 05:48:47 UTC

I don't see it as very differen,t because it's not the root cause of their issues.

2018-10-23 05:49:02 UTC

Nobody wanted the EU super state.

2018-10-23 05:49:25 UTC

Laws and state powers have eroded individual rights and seeped into every aspect of life.

2018-10-23 05:49:37 UTC

Okay, denying a Jew service at a restaurant and the holocaust have the same root cause. The person hates Jews. SCALE is important.

2018-10-23 05:49:48 UTC

There is the erosion of due process, for example, that is replicated almost exactly this side of the Atlantic and the other.

2018-10-23 05:50:08 UTC

I feel like I'm talking past you.

2018-10-23 05:50:22 UTC

There is C-51 in Canada, there is cancer like Title IX in the US, there is Alison Saunders and her ilk in the UK, rape shield laws.

2018-10-23 05:50:47 UTC

What scale do you want to discuss?

2018-10-23 05:51:04 UTC

It's systematic at a national level for each country.

2018-10-23 05:51:14 UTC

Those changes are replicated like cookie cutter.

2018-10-23 05:51:25 UTC

They couldn't be any more alike.

2018-10-23 05:52:14 UTC

I've told you multiple times what the point I was arguing was. The US would easily revolt in a scenario where the government used the military to strike citizens. That's an extreme abuse of power. I made no comments on what the US would do in a small abuse of power like these due process things. I can't seem to get you to acknowledge the scale of difference between these 2 slights by the government

2018-10-23 05:52:28 UTC

One is open war, the other is a slow, destruction of rights that will go unnoticed for a long time

2018-10-23 05:52:42 UTC

The US would react to war instantly and the government would get fucked

2018-10-23 05:52:46 UTC

That's all I am saying

2018-10-23 05:53:28 UTC

I don't think the US would need its military.

2018-10-23 05:53:38 UTC

You keep talking about random things like Title 9 and the degradation of due process which is so far removed from my original point.

2018-10-23 05:53:47 UTC

Okay, then that's a different scenario

2018-10-23 05:53:48 UTC

They don't have to send men with guns in green uniforms when they can lock people up with guys in blue uniforms.

2018-10-23 05:53:51 UTC

Which I'm not talking about
