So we might be starting wide trials of hydroxychloroquine.
It's contraindicated in a lot of the same people that are also high risk for death so it isn't a magic pill to end this in a day
But if we can say use this as a treatment for decent parts of the population we could try letting it burn through as many people as possible fast.
But that's likely to take a few months of trial and follow-up to find out.

Oh boy, I hope that doesn't get broadcast too far and misinterpreted. Preparing yourself for this situation to last 18 months is not the same thing as "buy 18 months worth of shit NOW" but you know how some idiots will hear that statement.

It's something I guess but not that impressive. Pretty sure those are damn expensive drugs too.
Not statistically significant.

Has anyone seen any good numbers about that from South Korea?
They are the only ones testing enough to probably catch exactly how common asymptomatic carriers are.
Must be keeping the numbers to themselves with their cryptic moon runes.
I don't actually want immigration to end. I just want open borders to end. Throughout almost 200 years of American history, the percent of the population that was born outside the country has always been between 10-15%. That dropped way down when the boomers were born and has been slowly returning to normal. In the US we're still a little below 15% and should be trying to stay there. My understanding of Europe is that they have been dealing with serious culture shock from raising their immigration numbers too fast and bringing in people from too few countries. Ironically their immigration policy doesn't have *enough* diversity which means imported people stick together and don't integrate.

I worry that people like Tim see too much immigration and think it means immigration is bad.
Honestly, 15 percent seems a bit high to me - *because* of that enclave issue. Not saying it should be nil, just a firm reduction might be wise.
That said, it's not impossible to see an uptick in births here soon.
Right, that could happen. Two weeks of not going outside? I have *plans*.
