Most people I've known seem to hate arguing about almost anything. And if you have a better term for it than "argument" that is more accurate please advise.

2018-10-30 17:01:54 UTC

I still think its just most people

2018-10-30 17:01:55 UTC

@Beef Taquitos discuss, talk

2018-10-30 17:01:56 UTC

Discussion Beef

2018-10-30 17:01:57 UTC

Most people dislike conflict

2018-10-30 17:02:07 UTC

No, that's not more accurate.

2018-10-30 17:02:21 UTC

Why not?

2018-10-30 17:02:35 UTC

So like...

2018-10-30 17:02:38 UTC

An argument doesn't have to be angry. A discussion is not as confrontational as an argument where you argue points and counter-points. A debate is too formal.

2018-10-30 17:02:39 UTC

Send money to gab?

2018-10-30 17:02:47 UTC

Both sides are presenting their ideas and going back and forth about them. A discussion can have disagreement without it being an arguement.

2018-10-30 17:02:48 UTC

cant

2018-10-30 17:02:54 UTC
2018-10-30 17:02:56 UTC

JDM, being late to the party. Or having Tim be angry at him

2018-10-30 17:02:56 UTC

it's the whole "It's not my job to educate you" "Go read all of Karl Marx works before you ever even think of criticizing marxist theory" "I don't want to talk about this right now (or ever)" or flat out ghosting.

2018-10-30 17:03:00 UTC

Discussion is too general.

2018-10-30 17:03:12 UTC

holy shit that annoys me to no end

2018-10-30 17:03:24 UTC

@>_ in general, "read marx" is a pretty good argument, because he's covered almost all of the common talking points

2018-10-30 17:03:25 UTC

They expect you to go and learn their position

2018-10-30 17:03:27 UTC

*bring them fire*

2018-10-30 17:03:33 UTC

"I discussed this with him" could mean any number of things, you have no idea if it was just "hey I like cats" "yeah I like cats too" or whatever.

2018-10-30 17:03:36 UTC

iron law of oligarchy 😦

2018-10-30 17:03:37 UTC

why would I address an argument that's been addressed 100 years ago?

2018-10-30 17:03:40 UTC

I mean they can't defend their positions themselves.

2018-10-30 17:03:50 UTC

The issue is, if you make a claim, its on you to provide your bases

2018-10-30 17:03:59 UTC

rip why yall trolling my boi V

2018-10-30 17:04:03 UTC

Because if you can't defend your positions than really how deeply do you believe in them.

2018-10-30 17:04:10 UTC

If you argued with someone, you know that the two of you had very different views on something and tried to convince each other of things.

2018-10-30 17:04:22 UTC

people can understand things without being able to articulate them

2018-10-30 17:04:26 UTC

@GingaBomber the bases is "marx proved this" @>_ the defense is "marx proved this"

2018-10-30 17:04:27 UTC

I mean the burden of proof is on the person making the claim

2018-10-30 17:04:37 UTC

And marx said millions of things

2018-10-30 17:04:45 UTC

I don't have to prove the pythagorean theorem when I'm doing trigonometry homework, because it's already been proved

2018-10-30 17:04:47 UTC

If I ask someone what they believe and then ask why they think that I expect a response of some sort. What i dont expect is to have a book thrown in my face and as they run away screaming "READ NIGGA"

2018-10-30 17:04:54 UTC

Its like when nazis basically post a dozen links and say, just read them and you will understand

2018-10-30 17:05:00 UTC

If you can't defend your position without giving required read, you are either lazy (which happens) or don't understand the argument enough to repeat it nor truly understand it.

2018-10-30 17:05:12 UTC

"Marx proved this"
Only he didn't

2018-10-30 17:05:12 UTC

^

2018-10-30 17:05:13 UTC

Except polticis isnt math, there is no one truth like math

2018-10-30 17:05:14 UTC

@Grenade123 that's decently accurate

2018-10-30 17:05:17 UTC

the issue with a lot of you people is that you think its genuinly about ideas and certain things being right, when in reality its closer to a religious war
