got a serious question for you guys:
I have a friend who grew up in a poorer neighborhood. Most, if not all, of his friends from his early childhood essentially convinced him that white people, as a race, have been pushing minorities (specifically black people) down. Whenever we speak about this, he has a history of bringing up things like 'black people are more likely to be shot by cops' and basically ignores me or gets visibly angry whenever I attempt to say otherwise or qualify his statement...
Any tips for this situation? I've recently figured that, as he's not too politically aware, he'll be fine even if I don't talk to him about it. It just bothers me that he gets visibly upset when I try to rebuke his claims.
Onion has to be so far out there now to even be considered joke news
tell him that other countries have less why pipl
on a similar note, the UFC might not exist today if it wasn't for Trump. he allowed them to host events in his venues when they were doing rural shit-holes following McCain's "human cockfighting" tirade
politics aside, bless his soul for that
I'm probably not the best source of advice for this, but I'd advise ripping the bandaid off.
Introduce him to more entertaining parts and then expand
"Black people are statistically more likely to be shot by police because they are statistically more likely to be involved in violent crime."
"We can talk about why that is, but that's the truth of it."
donut operator, thanks for reminding me of videos i need to catch up on
DONUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT
tim is 3 for 3 non him and franco
i've brought the violent crime tidbit up before. my issue with this is he either gets upset about me bringing that up, or he blames their violence about their situation which was thrust upon them by rich white people.
It's weirdly racist.
subbed to donut just now. never heard of him before.
the left believe blacks are inferior, but given the white guilt taught in schools they feel guilt so they must justify why they feel blacks are inferior
@Aero blacks were held back by whites in the past and it takes generations to heal that economic disparity. show sympathy for that historical plight before moving into the fact that these racial tethers no longer exist and he may be more receptive to contemporary truths.
these things aren't true today, but they were. that's probably the crux of the disagreement, an emotional one.
Inability to expand maybe
did white people cause the single parent rate in the black community>
no
i could be argued that yes, they did
well okay, i don't count the government as white people
Learn from your past, but don’t make your actions justified by the past.
