@Seven Proxies in the case of Sweden however, they were remnants of actual socialists who just changed their names
The Social Democrats in Sweden are pretty much fiscal liberals but who also argue for high welfare.
Fuck russia though. Russia is cringe
>1/3 islamic
🤣
@Seven Proxies - So what’s the core difference between a Socialist Party and Democratic socialists?
imagine being that cucked
Literally just electing socialism democratically
MA is legit drunk. He's like Joe Biden at this point
@Coolitic If you want the real socialists in Sweden then you need to look at "Vänsterpartiet" ( The Left Party) or as they used to call themselves: "The Left Party Communists"
If both are striving for authoritarian power, it’s effectively an argument of which means to achieve the same end.
@Mersenne George Orwell hated Commmuism. He was a self-declared Democratic Socilaist
He used to be
Then he hated socialism
Yeah but then turned against it
In a similar manner to JBP
exactly
no, they were both at the same time
But they've always been fringe. Even when they try to be more mainstream, they've never passed 10 %. And they've never been able to appoint a prime minister or a government of their own.
It’s because Orwell was able to recognize that those advocating for the impoverished often viewed them as inferior.
@Mersenne It's a philosophical and semantic question in my view. "Democratic socialist" doesn't really mean anything.
boomer doomer flu may change their outlook
Europeans are 'democratic socialists' from Orwell's perspective
@Mersenne What I focus on is the policies they actually put in practice
certain programs are state controlled: education, health care etc
Suomis get the rope
but under a capitalist framework
Social Democrats are more politically motivated than ideologically. All policies hinge on having a near totalitarian control over the state.
nah, european republics are a mix of authoritarian power, capitalism and surplus welfare
surplus welfare =/= socialism
And faggots
@Mersenne And with that in mind, you can't really call the Social Democrats of Sweden "socialist", because they don't seek to abolish private property or earning profits from the private market like real socialists would.
Essentially, the Social Democrats of Sweden are just the extended party arm of the labour unions.
Welcome back Ninja
oh no
I'm a year older today
@Mersenne Or at least they used to be, until "progressivism" infected them
I'm more likely to die or coronavirus now
