Lmfao
y was it wrong, the civil rights act was terrible for the country.
unsuffragettably horrible
?
gave us shit like affirmative action and the government telling us who we can or can't sell to in our own shops.
Lol
Honestly something I’ve been thinking about is that it feels like we are struggling with our past and future as a culture;increasing and growing progressivism and a growing reactionary sentiment that are battling each other. And I worry we’re going to collapse to one of the extremes; either full communism or full fascism
Affirmative action in itself wasnt the bad part
the irony, is the state was doing that before.
so the fed governemnt did it so the state couldn't, all fucked up
It was the community that took advantage of it.
Wym then
Im okay with AA but if so then on an individual basis.
An intelligent child of poor parents, yeah sure, give him a scholarship
Outside of implementing it, what problems did the government cause with it?
but dont tie it to race
Yeah but it was tied
i see
it also demeans the instituion's value to have people in because race card, why not just expand and accept more students?
@Misomania welll that depends
The White Man getting more goodies than us, we need to flood the market
@Misomania more studentsjust so they can fail? Not desirable i would argue. Thats what happens alot due to AA
once you fill your population via quota rather then merit, you inherently lower the value of all those involved @Redneo you could just expand and have a seperate campus
@Misomania well exactly.
Affirmative action displace meritocracy
@Misomania thats what i was saying
Displaces
@Misomania AA should be BASED on meritocracy and promoting the best
scholarships do that
Thats why we have shit doctors entering the field
@Misomania Yeah, they do.
why not just keep it merit and fund some really good scholarships?
that is pretty much my point
then no AA is needed then?
I mean its not needed, but youd have to incentivize the minorities to put forward their best.
if the students who score well but can't afford to go can qualify and get their education paid for via scholarship, maybe even in the form of corporate funded scholarship that gauruntees a job leaving college at the corporation funding the scholarship?
like a paid for internship, where your future employer is paying for you to go to school to learn that trade
