If it becomes able to run without outside help and reproduce better/different versions of itself then even if it isn't sentient it is still more or less alive

but if you have worked with AI at all you'd understand the limits of it

trouble is this and its simple we have basically hit the limit on what we can do hardware wise at least till some greater architecture comes along but software is still limitless I mean a computer only needs to be so fast to peform the tasks we need them too
