It does depend on where you live, only the big cities have higher than 10 mbps

2018-11-08 17:38:08 UTC

My isp has plans for giga fast speed

2018-11-08 17:38:08 UTC

1 provider per province sounds gay

2018-11-08 17:38:24 UTC

Do it Gary

2018-11-08 17:38:29 UTC

there's a bunch, but BT are the only ones offering fibre so it's p much 1

2018-11-08 17:38:31 UTC

all of my province should get 100 mbps by 2022 i think

2018-11-08 17:38:38 UTC

campaign for it

2018-11-08 17:38:50 UTC

if the local MPs know it's gonna get them elected they make it a priority

2018-11-08 17:38:57 UTC

people wanting to keep their jobs make stuff happen

2018-11-08 17:39:06 UTC

above that no say, but at least locally it does stuff

2018-11-08 17:39:55 UTC

i will harass Scot Moe on twitter

2018-11-08 17:40:17 UTC

The way my friend explained is that there is only 2 major isps in Canada and they legally have to switch who controls the most every few years

2018-11-08 17:40:54 UTC

yeah, to balance out the monopolization laws

2018-11-08 17:41:16 UTC

...what

2018-11-08 17:41:23 UTC

you legally have to switch

2018-11-08 17:41:24 UTC

why

2018-11-08 17:42:09 UTC

Monopoly’s are illegal

2018-11-08 17:42:15 UTC

there are anti monopolization laws in place, which means that the majority of internet service cannot be provided by a sole provider for elongated periods of time right?

2018-11-08 17:42:21 UTC

They can’t control the majority of the market

2018-11-08 17:42:31 UTC

so they switch off to avoid legal ramification

2018-11-08 17:42:38 UTC

^

2018-11-08 17:42:57 UTC

whaaaaat

2018-11-08 17:43:00 UTC

that i did not know about

2018-11-08 17:43:22 UTC

But they keep the same infrastructure so the 2 corps just work together

2018-11-08 17:43:37 UTC

It sounds illegal but it works out

2018-11-08 17:43:45 UTC

cuz loopholes

2018-11-08 17:43:46 UTC

then it's a monopoly

2018-11-08 17:43:48 UTC

lol

2018-11-08 17:43:58 UTC

On the papers it’s not

2018-11-08 17:43:59 UTC

no technically its an oligopoly

2018-11-08 17:44:04 UTC

That’s how it works

2018-11-08 17:44:48 UTC

yay boring conversation on canadian business laws
