i'm really doubtful of the positive effects of ubi

if he wants to tax business with VAT, that could come out of employee's paychecks, reducing wages / it could cause inflation / it could discourage people from getting jobs if they want to live like rats together in the same house / the taxes could slow down business growth

those things would offset the positive effects, the "stimulus" to the economy by people spending

so it's not obvious it's an improvement

also robots have not taken all of our jobs and it's not necessary to resort to UBI

if the UBI really does discourage people from working, e.g., who wants to work for minimum wage when they can barely get by with their UBI? it might encourage these type of business to increase automation because people would rather not work there
