"Toxic masculinity" mantra leads to guys flipping the bird.

2018-08-13 09:16:58 UTC

I feel like Trump is very calculated in the way he speaks and what he says. If you have read the art of the deal, a lot of it will make sense. Most may find it repulsive, but he does it for a reason and obviously it works.

2018-08-13 09:17:41 UTC

I like Trump. Him becoming Prez has made the left eat themselves and brought out their true beliefs and intentions.

2018-08-13 09:18:26 UTC

Plus, Trump was a businessman who had a TV show and then got pissed off at everything. He said I'm going to run for president to fix this mess. Everybody laughed and then he won.

That, to me, is brilliant.

2018-08-13 09:18:57 UTC

Yip

2018-08-13 09:19:54 UTC

The moment he announced it I said to my wife he will win and she laughed. It is the only thing the wife has ever admitted to being wrong about.

2018-08-13 09:20:35 UTC

@MikeyMike Wives can admit being wrong????

2018-08-13 09:21:06 UTC

Only once LOL

2018-08-13 09:22:25 UTC

The best for me was election night, with all the media expecting Hillary to win, and the change from upbeat to lower than life expressions was classic

2018-08-13 09:27:28 UTC

@Jerm @MikeyMike @Roovdwalt - I can see the merit in your points. I read the art of the deal, liked Trump in the Apprentice. He has brought businesses and himself back from the brink - so from that perspective, it would be wrong to say is an idiot - I am just saying that as a person I find him repulsive, I find his employment of his family a bit dodgey, should a president still have such close dealings with his businesses whilst in office? Are Huckabee and Guilliani really good reps for his case? I dont know. Like I say I dont understand American politics - right now my main concern is SA. And a shared concern that MSM everywhere has an agenda - which is one of the reasons I support alternative media sources becuase they are not obliged to jump to tunes that they dont agree with.

2018-08-13 09:36:36 UTC

@Dusty You have valid concerns, I think what matters, and what will get him in office again is more about what he is doing for the economy as well as his slogan on putting America first. Which must be a breath of fresh air for most people especially the people that have been struggling without work or who had no real access to the economy

2018-08-13 09:36:40 UTC

@Roovdwalt I appreciate that Trumps win was a good "up yours" to the opposition. But there is the question that he didn't win the popular vote? I personally wouldnt have voted for Clinton either. Its times like these that I think Roman of the Renegade Reports beliefs in anarchism / self determination are spot on.

2018-08-13 09:38:30 UTC

How does the popular vote work here in SA? Even the people that vote for the ANC are suffering. The electoral system in the states has always been like that, cannot say it doesnt work once Trump is elected

2018-08-13 09:40:14 UTC

The popular vote is a misnomer.

2018-08-13 09:40:20 UTC

I fully believe in Self Determination... The problem with it is that it can take a whole life time to happen, time that we do not have

2018-08-13 09:42:01 UTC

In our country of course, much easier in a place like the US

@Jerm that is trolling level: 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

2018-08-13 09:45:32 UTC

Thanks @Roovdwalt - that an excellent point and one I have thought of. I think that if Trump tweaked the way he delivers his messages, tones down / fine tunes his tweet storms, this point will be the focus of his presidency, not SNL skits with Stormy Daniels for eg, or Melania's choice of "I dont care jacket". Again I am not a fundi on American voting system - but the disparity between the electoral college and pop vote was disproportionate this time around. As for the popular vote in SA ..... eish! That is a can of worms all on its own . Lastly, yes - self determination is time we dont have .... things are becoming very claustrophobic in SA .

2018-08-13 09:46:21 UTC

@Jerm - impressive - usually items from China take a lot longer 😃

2018-08-13 09:47:53 UTC

This was a great video released a year before the election and unbiased view on why Trumps charisma would win the election (May have been different if democrats didn't have Hillary on the ticket): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LibRNYJmZ-I

2018-08-13 09:53:35 UTC

@Roovdwalt - I am entering uncharted territory here . I genuinely do not have enough knowledge of the US/Trump other than the odd bits here and there, and a personal dislike of him as a human - I really just wanted to know what was so great about Trump. I asked because , for instance for years I have dismissed Afriforum,, dismissed @Jerm for e.g. as a load of kooks and just read my MSM news like a good girl. In the last year I'd say I am now a lot more open to people whose opinions differ, and find myself agreeing with what might be called alt-right / far left similtaneously - reading all sides of the story and making my own mind up instead of having it made up for me.

2018-08-13 09:58:28 UTC

@Dusty Welcome to the dark side LOL. Yeah look, Trump as a person sitting down with and shooting the shit with is probably not going to be most peoples cup of beer. As a president though,I think he has done more to open the eyes of a lot of people and given people that nudge to say fuck the MSM and to look for alternative media. In doing so, it has exposed the utter shit that has been pushed to people and I think this is a common thing around the world.

2018-08-13 10:07:58 UTC

@Jerm - yes. That's whats inspired me to become a Patreon. I like authentic people, who are uncompromising on their own values and principles - and come from an educated place (ie all factors considered) and I like people who are brave enough to put their voice out their and not be ashamed of it.

2018-08-13 10:09:06 UTC

@Dusty We have all been there, and being open minded, as well as having free though allows us to to form our own conclusions not conclusions MSM want to enforce on us. Ultimately, it does not matter what our individual thoughts are, what does is that we can speak about it without holding back and have meaningful dialog. I also find myself floating between right and left, and don't like being categorized as "Right wing, Left Wing or even centralist" I just want to be me.

2018-08-13 10:13:06 UTC

@MikeyMike - 100% agree re: MSM - alternative media. @Roovdwalt you and I are on the same page. Its been good having a talk - I think its really important to engage! That said I have some work that I need to start engaging else that loaf of bread will fail to reach table shortly. Have a good day all.

2018-08-13 10:13:40 UTC

Cheers @Dusty

@Jerm to climb in on the Trump debate. I have a few mates in US some who voted for him and some who didn't. This is a conversation I have had with the ones who voted for him several times. What strikes me is how prevalent identity politics is everywhere in the world.

Trump on balance can't be described as a good person, but because of the bloody nose he gave the left people will defend the indefensible.

His attitude towards women is poor. The amount of woman voters he attracted doesn't change that. The ANC's attitude towards to poor is bad, and they still get the majority of the poor vote.

The MSM definitely overplays his fumbles, but there is no doubt that he used the zero tolerance policy at the border as a negotiating startegy... In my book that is really crappy.

If you took it from a US standpoint, he has played up divisions in society in order to consolidate power. Exactly what EFF and ANC do on this side. In my book that is really crappy.

Sites that log the honesty of leaders (that existed before Trump), show that he is far less honest than previous leaders (that in my book is crappy).

I don't know why people have to take this all or nothing approach to politics... they aren't sports teams, we can agree with some aspects and concede that other aspects are poor.

2018-08-13 12:20:36 UTC

@Tom_Servo agreed, but if we look at dishonesty, then Clinton surely reins supreme... That was the biggest mistake of the democrats, having Clinton on the ballot

2018-08-13 12:23:17 UTC

She had way too many scandals surrounding her and pretty much lied everytime she actually needed to be honest

2018-08-13 12:24:00 UTC

I also don't get this Trump / Clinton ongoing comparison. Election was ages ago... He should now be judged on his own merit

2018-08-13 12:24:06 UTC

and if she won, then she should have been

2018-08-13 12:25:47 UTC

But, here are the stats :

2018-08-13 12:26:06 UTC

Yeah of course, but the debate was on the presidential election and why people are attracted to him, so it is still relevant. If he is being judged on his campaign promises, I would say, barring a few things, he is on track

2018-08-13 12:28:22 UTC

either way, republicans didn't have to put trump up as a candidate, so this false comparison to Hillary gets old... There were some decent conservative candidates early in the primaries but Trumps playground strategy worked
