they have to be reseated if they fall over

2018-07-24 14:53:19 UTC

remember even radical aeroplane movement disrupts it

2018-07-24 14:53:35 UTC

that is the reason for those 'autocorrecting' mechanisms

2018-07-24 14:53:40 UTC

yup

2018-07-24 14:53:42 UTC

@Newscat ZA Did you just say air"plane"? 😃

2018-07-24 14:53:45 UTC

@Deejay from Earth yeah but can you put in VR goggles and fly around like superman? 🤔

2018-07-24 14:53:49 UTC

if we could 'autocorrect' why have a gyro at all?

2018-07-24 14:54:19 UTC

so you know where the ground is lol

2018-07-24 14:54:25 UTC

😃

2018-07-24 14:55:18 UTC

so like when the ground below you curves what happens ? a gyro keeps a dead level

2018-07-24 14:56:37 UTC

Yup, the gyroscope tells the pilot the attitude etc of the aircraft relative to the plane of the earth

2018-07-24 14:57:25 UTC

@rob this shows gyroscope correcting mechanism: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTXTCqMHyhg

2018-07-24 14:58:34 UTC

"level" means a horizontal plane to the perpendicular of the centre of the earth (relative to your position)

2018-07-24 14:59:56 UTC

The first patent for a pendulous vanes system was filed in 1941 by the inventor Frederick D. Braddon,

2018-07-24 15:00:25 UTC

this is my argument

2018-07-24 15:00:35 UTC

I want experiments that I can verify

2018-07-24 15:00:44 UTC

appeal to authority doesn't work

2018-07-24 15:01:07 UTC

hand wave we have the technology therefore that's wrong doesn't wash anymore

2018-07-24 15:01:13 UTC

Yup. Crowdfund a heading indicator?

2018-07-24 15:01:38 UTC

we don't need capital

2018-07-24 15:01:44 UTC

just better experiments

2018-07-24 15:01:52 UTC

oh yeah rob good point - but see that's why the gyroscope arguments are useless either way

2018-07-24 15:02:05 UTC

how did they fly in WWII ??

2018-07-24 15:02:11 UTC

Or you can fly in an airplane - as airplane flight is impossible on a ball that is rotating at 1600 kilometers per hour.

2018-07-24 15:02:11 UTC

I watched a vid

2018-07-24 15:02:29 UTC

the mechanism is for aerial manouvers, not the earth ball

2018-07-24 15:02:52 UTC

I read somewhere - can't find it now, that the WWII gyros had to be readjusted by eye and had by pilot

2018-07-24 15:03:01 UTC

hand*

2018-07-24 15:03:27 UTC

how would you correct for level in the sky

2018-07-24 15:03:36 UTC

without a level horizon

2018-07-24 15:03:39 UTC

:/

2018-07-24 15:04:12 UTC

guys you see - this is why i don't do FE - takes too much time

2018-07-24 15:04:26 UTC

but everytime I've gone down a road, it was proven nonsense

2018-07-24 15:04:43 UTC

why can't the FE ers provide a working model

2018-07-24 15:04:47 UTC

Cessna 172 that flies at 100kph REALLY can't land on a runway which is moving at twice the speed of sound. The only way the Cessna could land on that runway is if it was moving at 1700kph in the first place.

2018-07-24 15:04:51 UTC

when they can I'll look at it again hehe

2018-07-24 15:05:15 UTC

I hear you newscat, but consider that our lack of a unified theory of science is largely because gravity doesn't fit quantum mechanics

2018-07-24 15:05:29 UTC

man yeah that's another dinger

2018-07-24 15:05:51 UTC

lol no dejay, you're moving relative to the earth

2018-07-24 15:05:56 UTC

those were debunked as well
