their "regulation" assumes good manufacturing practices which is never the case because half of the things we make are assembled in a good place, but the pieces are from china
plastics that leach, aluminum with lead in it, bolts that were not annealed so they're brittle

I remember one case study of one of those heated cribs for newlyborns
And it passed FDA approval
but when they were plugged in, the crib got so hot it melted the plastic and baked the baby
it was because the components weren't made correctly
even though the device itself was up to snuff
