Let’s move this to <#515244964083531825>
What is a safe to talk about without making someone annoyed men's rights issue?
MGM
Okay thank you
If someone is annoyed by that, then they’ve got issues.
I've had a few Facebook arguments that say otherwise. If you talking to a older parent who already snipped get kids, it's going to be rather difficult to get them recognize they did something wrong.
What is mgm?
Circumcision but there might be more about it
Oh ok thanks
Male Genital Mutilation is sadly an issue that is not taken seriously by a lot of people. British TV has even had women joking about it (and worse things, like complete genital amputation).
I hope in the future we will see a move to ban this horrific practice. It is NOT normal to want to cut off part of your child.
The laughter when a man gets his genitals amputated always makes me furious and afraid for where society is going. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUna51rI_eQ
Most of us have probably already seen that, but I watch it about once a year to remind myself what we are fighting. That's not even the only show that had to launch a (sniggering) apology about women giggling because this woman castrated her husband and nearly killed him.
@Skellious you are so right. It is sick.
There was a thing about teaching circumcision written by a nurse on the Reddit, and they literally don't care how much pain the boy is in. Or how bad they screw up his dick.
Look at all the people just flat out assuming he beat and abused her from one photo....
"If he’s begging her forgiveness we don’t know what he did. She could be in the right." Is correct. It's not really right for us to speculate either way
I don't think the post is meant to illustrate he's not guilty of something during the marriage, only to show that people assume he is guilty
@turbulance4 read a bit further down.
From one photo they get everything from black eyes covered by sunglasses to a lifetime of abuse. I'm not even saying it isn't true - only that it's a whopping assumption and that she could just as easily be the abuser. Only they downvote everyone who even says that it's an assumption.
Isn't it that in most abusive relations that both partners are at fault? that violence reciprocates violence?
AFAIK yes
A lot of times violence is mutual
Yup
Honestly, we should do one of those civil disobedience things where every man paying alimony, child support, or spousal support should just stop paying and accept the consequences
And then just check in on how the women and their children are doing, since obviously they still have jobs and are making money
Would be a great wake-up call
Only thing to work out is how we move our money somewhere the government can't take it
Violence is almost never one sided in a relationship
define "almost never"
I think the civil disobedience thing is a great idea. Maybe call it 'Men on Strike' or 'Slaves to Divorce' or something.
Actually, I was thinking about it last night, and I've got a perfect way to make it work
Just have everyone go overseas, and then stop paying
Make the government try to extradite every last one of them
That would definitely get some attention
How do you figure that those paying child support from poor backgrounds are able to afford flights or travel when all their money is taken directly out of their pay cheque.
Many wouldn't go and be apart from whatever limited access to their children gives them.
The government would also seize whatever assets they may leave behind.
Nowhere near enough people would ever do it.
They'd seize them if they stayed here too
In all cases? No, they'd only seize those that couldn't pay, they wouldn't seize when they just pay unreasonable amounts but can pay it
And honestly, I have some steps. Sell all your property, move all your money to a foreign bank account, and then leave
I honestly feel like more people would do it that way
I mean who genuinely wants to lose all their assets, have their wages garnished, face tens of thousands in debt, and go to jail?
We can at least try to make it hard for the government to get anything out of it
