Trump Orders Anti Trust Probe of Big Tech
Synopsis:
The White House has prepared an executive order for President Trump to sign that would instruct all federal antitrust and law enforcement agencies to open investigations into the business practices of the high-tech, anti-competitive practices of the big social media companies like Facebook and Google.
The order hasn’t yet been vetted by other government agencies, however somehow Bloomberg News obtained a draft of the upcoming order.
“[U.S. antitrust authorities should] thoroughly investigate whether any online platform has acted in violation of antitrust laws. Because of their critical role in American society, it is essential that American citizens are protected from anticompetitive acts by dominant online platforms.”
