@neveraslave they have had almost 5 decades to weave their tentacles into every facet of the power structure: Information; Judicial; Executive; Legislative; And they have been doing this not just here, but in other countries, so if you shut them down here, they already have a million other places that keep going. The drug trade and human trafficking allow them to function without taxpayer dollars too. Removing them require delicate action and coordination with other good guys. Ultimately, they don't have the numbers, but they have their hands on all the nerve centers.
