Like when ur favorite classic book that should be a full length in depth show becomes a shitty movie

I can think of like teb but the one that stands out is World War Z

World War Z is probably my favorite book and without a debt the best zombie book, but holy shit they fucking butchered it

What should have been an HBO series about mankind in its decade long war against the undead that is really a commentary on the breakdown of social order than the threat of zombies became a movie about how Brad Pitt saves all of humanity in like one week

it's mostly a matter of the production cycle

we're not immortal, so we can't strive for perfection

so a fuck ton of compromises get made to get it done. sometimes the compromises are not good ones

i would rather a world where everyone creates for the sake of it, but that's not even close to what we live in

the best we'll get are the fleeting ideas that capture a certain kind of promise

but when we go to flesh that out, it's always going to be a dissapointment
