I'm going to start with the deliverable.

A kid starts going to school at 6 and gets out at 18.

They come out with *nothing* but basic arithmetic and reading, if we are lucky.

That's 12 years of glorified babysitting.

We have 12 years to basically bring a child up to speed with the progress of humanity and we are failing at it.
