I love it

2019-03-09 16:42:12 UTC

is Doom Eternal out?

2019-03-09 16:42:32 UTC

cause if that's the case I know what I am doing over spring break

2019-03-09 16:42:41 UTC

Damn, not sure.

2019-03-09 16:43:11 UTC

@Grump The Horrible One of the things they do brilliantly, apart from music, is the Characterisation of Doom Guy.

2019-03-09 16:43:25 UTC

yeah

2019-03-09 16:43:45 UTC

you not locked in a room with demons, they are locked in a room with doom guy

2019-03-09 16:44:14 UTC

yeah Doom "4" was a breath of fresh air imo

2019-03-09 16:44:27 UTC

I might install and play FEAR again

2019-03-09 16:44:54 UTC

@Grump The Horrible I'd say it was the first game perfectly rebuilt for the modern era.

2019-03-09 16:45:11 UTC

I have been playing Warhammer: Vermintide 2 and that is super fun but my friends are all busy playing something else

2019-03-09 16:45:16 UTC

They distilled the spirit of the first doom absolutely perfectly.

2019-03-09 16:45:19 UTC

yep

2019-03-09 16:46:34 UTC

I am taking a break from RE:2 remake. which also was one of the best remakes of an old game. CAPCOM has been on point lately

2019-03-09 16:46:39 UTC

The thing about certain types of "copying" in the creative arts is that they require people just at brilliant as the original makers to pull off, like the case of Brandon Sanderson ghost writing the last parts of Wheel of TIme.

2019-03-09 16:47:08 UTC

lol yeah

2019-03-09 16:49:38 UTC

@Grump The Horrible The Doom engine is very good, and unlike others, it gets resolution upgrades when used with processors with more cores.

2019-03-09 16:50:14 UTC

might try playing on nightmare again

2019-03-09 16:50:25 UTC

People have described its unusual performance as being due to an engine that "shunts as much data to the GPU as possible as fast as possible".

2019-03-09 16:50:46 UTC

well also I'd imagine it's well optimized

2019-03-09 16:50:54 UTC

and well coded

2019-03-09 16:51:11 UTC

Not just that, it's a clever architecture.

2019-03-09 16:52:41 UTC

isn't that a thought! Making something that works well and is fun to play is a winning strategy for making a great game! The other Devs that are under Bethesda should take note lol

2019-03-09 16:52:45 UTC

@Grump The Horrible Remember when Sony execs publicly demonstrated an "amazing new feature" their games had, by one executive passing a copy to another executive?

2019-03-09 16:53:36 UTC

"here's how to share games on PS4." ::passes game over:: "Thanks!"

2019-03-09 16:55:09 UTC

lol

2019-03-09 16:55:14 UTC

Amazing.

2019-03-09 17:02:42 UTC

@Grump The Horrible I'd like to see a game console that uses ROM cartridges where the mask ROM containing graphics data is VERY close to the connector, with the position of the GPU on the board being very close to the cartridge slot.

2019-03-09 17:04:01 UTC

@ebowden does upside-down land have regional specific shit for games like Europe does?

2019-03-09 17:04:13 UTC

or is it the same as the US

2019-03-09 17:05:20 UTC

Not sure.

2019-03-09 17:06:21 UTC

@Grump The Horrible Just in case you didn't know, one of the major performance bottlenecks with gaming GPUs is the RAM.

2019-03-09 17:06:37 UTC

yep Australia has PAL

2019-03-09 17:06:49 UTC

same a Europe

2019-03-09 17:07:15 UTC

North and South America have the same

2019-03-09 17:07:24 UTC

The idea with this console design would be having the graphics components of the mask ROM pull double duty.

The hunter call of the wild has been fun
