To summarize my anime rand (which along with comics is a favorite topic of mine when sloshed) Anime released several decades of that 95% into the west all at once. Making it look higher quality that it is.
The other thing is that it is free of the west's "problematic" history. Japan is cultural blind spot so they can do thing they can't do in the west because they don't have to deal with cultural baggage, representation crap, etc. They just get to make stuff.
Also, as they are unfettered by western baggage. It lets certian tight asses relax their rectums and enjoy something for a change.
