I don't really have an excuse because I discovered mgtow/red pill about a year ago but I still find myself in this "why should I" mindset... the answer should be "because I want to" but really... I have become so lazy.

Does anyone here work in the medical field in engineering, IT or patient care? I've worked in technology for the past 5 years (since I graduated at 19). Outside of programming (3 years in automotive and 2 in finance), the only other career I could see myself in is being a doctor or biomedical engineer. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

@machtyn Nice. I say that the typical "self-help" approach doesn't work for two reasons 1) there is a contradiction between "self-help" and the very selves that attempt to try these methods. How can it be called "self-help" if not all "selves" are the same? Its advertised as a one-size-fits-all yet its "self-help", not "everyone do this set of things called "self-help" and still be separate from the other sets of people doing the exact same thing.

True, there is a lot of nuance within developing yourself. I guess it's more "these things worked for me and since we're the same species it might help you too." Even that is valuable.

And secondly, 2) What happens when you get bored of the "self-help" strategies and you find yourself in a slump again? How many times do you have to work-out to alleviate anxiety before you start building up tolerances to the amount of times that you work out in order to fend of anxiety? It doesn't seem that these typical strategies are robust enough to deal an entire multitude of different aspects.

@the adventures male I only view porn/masturbation as cleaning the pipes. I don't watch hardcore porn - only weird softcore shit. It's weird and probably it's own fetish but I don't need much to get going. I actually prefer my imagination. Anyways, I did go down that route of NoFap but I only PMO 3-4 times a week.

@Seven Of Swords I totally see your point. I think being okay with yourself is the most important. I do find I need some physical activity every day since I work behind a keyboard.

I think the basics: sleep 7.5-9 hours at consistent fall/wake times, drink x amount of water, eat vegetables/healthy fats, exercise at least 3 hours a week, lift heavy things, learn something new every day or otherwise challenge yourself; are all good basics. I do agree it can get out of hand and become silly or a parody of itself.
