I used Google Voice as my only phone for 2 years.

2018-09-29 17:31:30 UTC

Be careful, gotta embrace new technology every now and then. Being 45 years old at work and not knowing how to use the computers that well must suck

2018-09-29 17:32:30 UTC

If you're a tech guy/engineer that won't be a problem

2018-09-29 17:33:34 UTC

I am a tech/engineer. I know how to use them but I hate them.

2018-09-29 17:33:50 UTC

They're just inferior. I use laptops as desktops any chance I get.

2018-09-29 17:34:04 UTC

I use laptops to ssh into actual machines 😄

2018-09-29 17:42:56 UTC

I don't like tablets and phones either

2018-09-29 17:43:32 UTC

Nice desktop with a hardwired internet connection is king

2018-09-29 17:43:57 UTC

I've noticed that wifi is slow, shitty, and not secure

2018-09-29 18:16:09 UTC

@machtyn after reading your statements, I think I know whats is your problem

2018-09-29 18:17:01 UTC

It's the fatherhood desire

2018-09-29 18:27:18 UTC

@Sigma YES! Ben Greenfield has a home that is industrial/cement/steel fully insulated with no wifi and all hardwired. That's my end game.

2018-09-29 18:27:28 UTC

@Kazemaru What makes you say that?

2018-09-29 18:27:45 UTC

I don't hate kids but I never really wanted kids. I do enjoy mentoring people.

2018-09-29 18:28:05 UTC

I like mentoring others too

2018-09-29 18:28:38 UTC

But mentoring is not the same as fatherhood

2018-09-29 18:28:44 UTC

True.

2018-09-29 18:29:52 UTC

Also, you describ having a lot of activities, but yet, you always feel that something is missing, right?

2018-09-29 18:31:01 UTC

Yeah

2018-09-29 18:31:14 UTC

I feel like I should be doing more.

2018-09-29 18:31:42 UTC

Now, try to imagine yourself with a toddler

2018-09-29 18:31:56 UTC

It's quite scary, isn't?

2018-09-29 18:32:12 UTC

It would be weird haha.

2018-09-29 18:32:21 UTC

I'd be constantly improving my procedures to take care of it.

2018-09-29 18:33:08 UTC

I've taken care of kids only twice in my life. The first time they were toddlers so they didn't give me too much fuss. The second time it was pre-teen so it was a lot of attitude but I wasn't cleaning up after them as much.

2018-09-29 18:33:54 UTC

There it is

2018-09-29 18:34:20 UTC

It's the fatherhood desire coming to surface

2018-09-29 18:34:29 UTC

I just realized I called a toddler an "it" 😄 I meant them.

2018-09-29 18:34:58 UTC

@Kazemaru How can I redirect that into my career or education?

2018-09-29 18:35:06 UTC

What if I just kept going to school while working full time instead?

2018-09-29 18:35:47 UTC

It would only cost $6,000 per year so I'd easily afford that. I could do 5 classes per year while working full time.

2018-09-29 18:35:58 UTC

I'd probably get burned out but if I manage it right, it could work.

2018-09-29 18:36:31 UTC

There's no way you can direct this to career or education

2018-09-29 18:36:46 UTC

What if I am the best uncle ever?

2018-09-29 18:37:47 UTC

If you are the best uncle ever, then your fatherhood desire it's never going to end

2018-09-29 18:38:14 UTC

Well I guess surrogacy?

2018-09-29 18:38:38 UTC

I don't know if that's my issue. We will see with time, I guess.

2018-09-29 18:41:45 UTC

Dont worry too much then, you have plenty of time
