anyway I have to run off for a bit. BBL.

2018-10-13 20:32:38 UTC

@KenneticEnergy Yes, you do. Your body converts it from fat to run the brain.

2018-10-13 20:32:45 UTC

goodbye @Lilu

2018-10-13 20:33:09 UTC

You don't need to EAT carbs/sugars.

2018-10-13 20:33:11 UTC

It also depends on how active you are too, nutrition is highly personable tbh

2018-10-13 20:33:18 UTC

Yes!

2018-10-13 20:33:31 UTC

Agreed. I personally eat a little brown rice when I go sparring.

2018-10-13 20:33:45 UTC

I wanna rewatch Fight Club one of these days

2018-10-13 20:33:45 UTC

@machtyn Yes you do, to allow the basic metabolic functions of your body to take place. You need carbs and glucose. This is fact

2018-10-13 20:33:50 UTC

When I lift without brown rice, I am flat in performance but I get a better physical response.

2018-10-13 20:34:00 UTC

@KenneticEnergy No, you do not.

2018-10-13 20:34:06 UTC

xDD

2018-10-13 20:34:10 UTC

The body converts fat into glucose.

2018-10-13 20:34:50 UTC

As an older guy...you just have to watch the portions. Like when I do get fast food......its a small drink. small fries, and a small burger

2018-10-13 20:34:51 UTC

The brain needs 100-150 grams of glucose to function. The body taps that from fat stores if no glucose is eaten.

2018-10-13 20:34:54 UTC

Dude. If I don't get any carbs, or any sodium, or any glucose in my diet I'm quickly gonna become malnourished. Tell me how long you can go with a 0 carb, 0 glucose, and 0 sodium diet. You'll be diabetic before you know it

2018-10-13 20:35:12 UTC

Moderation, is the key word. Most people OD on carbs, fat, sodium

2018-10-13 20:35:29 UTC

@KenneticEnergy You will eat a small amount of carbs from vegetables. When did I ever say you needed no sodium/electrolytes?

2018-10-13 20:35:36 UTC

Weight doesn't "melt" off me anymore

2018-10-13 20:35:37 UTC

Well it's recommended to take some electrolytes on the keto diet.

2018-10-13 20:35:52 UTC

Veggies provide the "essential" 20g carbs.

2018-10-13 20:35:53 UTC

@machtyn My bad, I thought you were advocating for a diet absent of those nutrients lol

2018-10-13 20:35:59 UTC

@KenneticEnergy Not at all.

2018-10-13 20:36:44 UTC

@KenneticEnergy It is a myth that you need to eat carbs/sugars to sustain yourself though. You can eat fats and under 20mg carbs via veggies. Also, if you eat more than 40-80 grams of protein that will convert to glucose as well.

2018-10-13 20:37:17 UTC

@KenneticEnergy So these "carnivore diet" people are actually converting to glucose without realizing it probably.

2018-10-13 20:37:29 UTC

and sometimes...grabbing a lunch out.....yeah, a salad is the meal, and not some ginorous thing that chicks eat with 1000 pounds of dressing, chicken, cheese.....

2018-10-13 20:37:52 UTC

I'm not advocating for a carnivore diet, I'm simply saying based off scientific fact you need some ammount of carbs, and glucose to live. Or at least function properly

2018-10-13 20:38:18 UTC

The optimal diet is different for each individual. I personally have seen the keto (with IF) to be most effective at lowering insulin/inflammation and thus reducing fat accumulation and burning off stored fat. However, you don't perform better than someone eating more carbs probably. I don't think that research has been done.

2018-10-13 20:38:20 UTC

@machtyn Some people who start diets and have no idea what they're doing end up hurting themselves

2018-10-13 20:38:42 UTC

@KenneticEnergy I agree. I wasn't saying you advocated carnivore. I was using that as an example.

2018-10-13 20:39:06 UTC

@machtyn I gotcha. Again it was my bad for misreading

2018-10-13 20:39:25 UTC

Unless you're eating a cow in a sitting, protein doesn't effect ketosis.

2018-10-13 20:39:30 UTC

@KenneticEnergy Yes but you're confusing dietary carbs/glucose with bio-available glucose. The body will convert stored fat to glucose. Why do you think engineers in Silicone Valley are fasting and using keto to clear brain fog?

2018-10-13 20:39:58 UTC

@hel I don't think that is correct.

2018-10-13 20:40:11 UTC

@machtyn True, btw they're also microdosing on some pretty heavy stuff like acid and what not. So I hear lol

2018-10-13 20:40:24 UTC

You're still in ketosis, yes, but you are converting that protein to glucose for brain function.

2018-10-13 20:40:33 UTC

seen plenty of overweigh engineers in the SIlicon Valley

2018-10-13 20:40:34 UTC

Overeating protein will *slow* the rate of ketone production, not increase the rate of glucose production.

2018-10-13 20:40:37 UTC

@KenneticEnergy Oh, well that would help 😄

2018-10-13 20:40:46 UTC

@hel Ah, that makes sense.

2018-10-13 20:40:56 UTC

@Deleted User Of course. They sit all day.
