Be an alchemist and convert negative energy into positive
Why waste your energy on hating? It is a tremendous burden.
And many people like to consider that their suffering is the greatest, while all you need to do is step back and observe everything. Without judgement. Like another practical Stoic thing you can do is called 'zooming'. You start by imagining yourself in a room and then slowly imagine your city from the bird's eye view, then go into imagining earth -> mars -> the milky way. The point is, it puts your problems into perspective and they're usually not as significant as you think they are.
A bit off-topic, but yeah.
Wow, it’s funny you mention that “zooming” technique. I literally do that all the time, at least a couple times a week. I love to think about the size of the universe and how small we really are. Also how unique each of us are in the world alone and then the universe. But everyone deals with trauma differently, the best they know how to I suppose.
I definitely do that “zooming” technique every day during meditation.
Falling into hedonism is the most common way people deal with traumas.
I got rid of nearly all vices but the only thing I can't seem to shake off is the excessive internet use. Even if I read 'valuable' information.
I agree that it's necessary to balance between pleasure and work, but still
That actually seems like a bad approach to things, it is much better to acknowledge your problems are real and that they need to be dealt with rather than to one-up it for yourself.
Good morning beautiful people.
Well, it is acknowledging your problems, but it helps you solve them with a more clearer mind.
Hey there.
I don't want to interrupt but could get some perspective on my monk mode strategy.
I've never not had sex since I was a teenager so I assume I am going to get weird "cravings" and such. Any suggestions on dealing with those? I spend some shekels on a tenga thing to make it easier to monk for the next year (TMI).
Channel the energy into other activities?
Try some Japanese onaholes.
Those things are better it seems.
What’s up @machtyn
And fucking MEE6.
Onahole guide
Best way to deal with problems is to realize how insignificant they truly are. See them for what they are and blow through them right there. Make the decision.
@machtyn fleshlight launch.
I don't see how trivializing them is viewing it for what it is. I don't see how view it as a small thing makes it easier to deal with.
Yeah, transmutation... which brings up my other goals perfectly:
Mind: I am going to move out of my current living situation and save 60-65% of my income. I am debating going back to the local CC to take more physics/calculus and other courses (1-2 every semester while working full time) or focusing entirely on a SaaS or other software product. I want to use this next year to figure out WHICH NICHE within technology I truly like/excel at because I have bounced around a lot in technology.
Body: I want to get my 6 pack back, so OMAD + KETO with barbell/calisthenics/rowing.
Soul: I am going to take up meditation.
I honestly don't have any other goals so I could use some help.
@ColdEmbraceOfDeath Yeah, I went the cheaper route and just bought their $99 Tenga Flip Zero Black.
Pick up a hobby, a craft of some kind.
@ColdEmbraceOfDeath most problems are not significant. It’s not trivializing, it’s putting them into perspective without emotion.
You have no idea. I used to get suicidal over small things, but now I realized that they're not that significant.
If they're not significant, why would you bother dealing with them then? Why not let it be then?
@MufflePuff I agree to an extent. I am an over-thinker by nature so I do tend to PEDASTALIZE problems. I will focus on realizing "what's the worse case really?"
It’s not choosing to view it a certain way, it’s acknowledging how big it really is.
@ColdEmbraceOfDeath Outside of gaming, reading, lifting and programming... I don't know what I want to do.
Do you have an instrument?
For the first time in my life, I am content and at peace but I feel stifled and like I am decaying.
I never took to music but I did enjoy singing.
Trying to learn something on wikipedia, it's like a fucking rabbit hole.
That's true 😄
@machtyn that’s a solid plan man. Honestly you’ve already done the hardest part in figuring it out.
