I've read/researched a bit but will definitely delve more into it

2018-10-17 12:32:45 UTC

Thanks @hel

2018-10-17 12:33:02 UTC

No problem : D

2018-10-17 12:34:25 UTC

Whoops I meant zooming lol. I kind of came to the same conclusion from watching International Space Station livestreams but it's dope to find out it's been expanded upon.

2018-10-17 12:35:03 UTC

Though I should've known. Nothing is completely 'new'

2018-10-17 12:35:26 UTC

@hel I like Stoicism. The only thing I disagree with is the core tenet that we can't control anything so might as well not worry about it. I think we can control our small circle of influence and shouldn't worry but need to strive for excellence.

2018-10-17 12:36:35 UTC

If you're stuck in a traffic jam, I wouldn't worry about that. But if you're fat, then worrying is great cause it helps you make the first step towards losing weight.

2018-10-17 12:37:09 UTC

Exactly.

2018-10-17 12:37:15 UTC

If you're truly content with yourself, why strive for 'excellence' ?

2018-10-17 12:37:27 UTC

I don't think that's what it means, it simply means that you don't need to worry about things you can't change.

2018-10-17 12:37:49 UTC

Stoicism can offload responsibility too easily. "Ah, it is fate I am bankrupt and fat." No... you're terrible with income/expense in both food and money.

2018-10-17 12:38:08 UTC

@hel If I am not growing I feel like I am dying.

2018-10-17 12:38:42 UTC

That line of thinking has certainly helped me in ways, like I used to think I am too small and insignificant and that it sucks to think that I can't change things and I learned that it is what it is, that I don't need to beat myself about it.

2018-10-17 12:38:54 UTC

Seems like you got the 'memento mori' part down.

2018-10-17 12:39:17 UTC

Exactly.

2018-10-17 12:39:27 UTC

There is a fine line between indifference vs. stoicism.

2018-10-17 12:39:43 UTC

The example of being fat and broke is indifference rather than being stoic.

2018-10-17 12:40:30 UTC

Hey

2018-10-17 12:40:36 UTC

Alright I am off to work!

2018-10-17 12:40:53 UTC

Good luck, friend.

2018-10-17 12:41:43 UTC

Take care, @machtyn.

2018-10-17 12:45:34 UTC

Hello everyone

2018-10-17 12:46:12 UTC

I've just watched tfm video "it's NOT the economy, stupid"

2018-10-17 12:46:38 UTC

And I must say that is filled with good arguments

2018-10-17 12:47:48 UTC

And it also gave me a glimpse about tfm's strategy and persona

2018-10-17 12:48:39 UTC

He's more smart then I thought

2018-10-17 12:49:07 UTC

TFM is well read and well informed

2018-10-17 12:49:18 UTC

And extremely opinionated

2018-10-17 12:49:37 UTC

He neglects certain things and wouldn't acknowledge things, he is human also, he has his biases.

2018-10-17 12:49:48 UTC

Certain topics, he doesn't seem well researched.

2018-10-17 12:50:02 UTC

Can you give an example?

2018-10-17 12:50:45 UTC

Sort of about sex robots and their availability changing the sexual market place drastically, etc.,

2018-10-17 12:50:57 UTC

That zooming idea is pretty cool never heard of that

2018-10-17 12:51:04 UTC

There are other things but like it's been a while since I watched his stuff, so I can't say that well for now.

2018-10-17 12:51:06 UTC

One can be highly smart by having low knowlege/information, wich I think is tfm case

2018-10-17 12:51:07 UTC

Makes sense though

2018-10-17 12:51:17 UTC

@Rhunespire, he never mentions race, because he's probably a Juden. He's like a Jordan Peterson who avoids the JQ. Just completely avoids it.

2018-10-17 12:51:28 UTC

He'll answer everything but that.

2018-10-17 12:51:39 UTC

That's my opinion.

2018-10-17 12:51:40 UTC

Education enlightens the mind, even a dullard can be made bright if they read a lot as it exercises the mind
