I believe where KD is coming from is that if you fundamentally believe that something is wrong with you, that there is something holding you back some trauma or self doubt, that you'll never realize that there isn't anything actually wrong with you and that thing your trying to "improve" on is just holding you back because you believe there is something that needs to be fixed. Correct me if im wrong

Humans almost always have flaws in them, assuming that there is nothing wrong with you doesn't make sense, also that humans wants are unlimited. So there will be want for improvement with stuff, whether you act on it or not.
